Mha Iri set to release A Million Lightyears EP

UMEK’s label 1605 welcomes back Mha Iri for her third solo EP on the imprint, following her recent track made in collaboration with the label boss himself.

Mha Iri has roots in the Australian techno scene where she has spent many years performing at many of the country’s top clubs and festivals. She is known for her unique style that fuses hard-hitting percussion with uplifting synth lines to create an enthralling mix of emotions.

The twisted euphoria of Mha Iri’s tracks have seen her music signed to influential techno labels ranging from Markantonio’s AnalyticTrail to Spektre’s Respekt, but in recent times 1605 has become a main outlet for her music.

Both of the two tracks on this release are dance floor focused techno in the peak time style Mha Iri has made her trademark.

“A Million Lightyears” opens the release with its pounding kick drum which is soon joined by compelling vocals that give the track its title. Throbbing bass stabs and the unnerving pitch bend of the lead melody combine with the tension of an arpeggio synth line, which builds towards the suspense of the main breakdown. The epic drop plunges the track into darkness before the uplifting elements are gradually reintroduced.

“Botanic Sunset” is second of the two cuts, and it’s the heavier of the two with its rumbling bassline and thrashing high-end percussion. Propelled by a stabbing melody synth, it builds towards a sinister vocal overlaid by a hypnotic synth line, but it’s the stabbing melody tones that are the tracks defining element. A perfect example of Mha Iri’s style, it’s tailor made for maximum impact.
