Fans of KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! now have more of the isekai comedy to look forward to, as it has been confirmed that more of the anime is in the works.
According to Crunchyroll, the show's producers announced on Twitter that the production of more anime content for the series has been green lit. While the information provided was scarce, more details are set to follow in future reports. A new visual was also released as part of the announcement, displaying the return of the four leads, Kazuma, Megumin, Aqua and Darkness.
The official Twitter for the anime also posted an image of voice actors Jun Fukushima (Kazuma) and Rie Takahashi (Megumin), celebrating the reveal by holding up a physical copy of the announcement image. The two actors were previously seen in an interview segment that aired before the latest KonoSuba anime release, the 2019 movie Legend of Crimson.
The series is adapted from Natsume Akatsuki's light novels of the same name, the 17th volume of which was released in May 2020. KonoSuba is a comedy that subverts the common tropes of the popular isekai genre; rather than the typical heroic and altruistic protagonists of the genre, the series stars a hopeless cast of foolish and often selfish adventurers.
Season 1 of the anime debuted in January 2016, while Season 2 followed just a year later in January 2017. The movie continued the story from Season 2, and was released in Japan in August 2019, followed by screenings in the United States in November 2019. The series has also been adapted into a video game and an upcoming table-top RPG.
