A new trailer for Netflix's Record of Ragnarok anime has dropped.
The official site for the upcoming Record of Ragnarok anime revealed the series will have its global debut on Netflix on June 17 and released an accompanying new trailer, set to the anime's opening theme "Kamigami," performed by heavy metal band Maximum the Hormone. In addition to the trailer and release date, the anime's unveiled new key art and additions to the series' voice cast.
The new additions to the voice cast include Aya Kawakami (My Hero Academia) as Randgrid, one of the 13 Valkyrie sisters who can transform into a spear for the hero Lu Bu to wield, newcomer Rina Kawaguchi as Reginleif, another Valkyrie who transforms into knucklebusters for Adam, and Yu Kobayashi (Attack on Titan, Dorohedoro) as Hrist, a Valkyrie who transforms into a sword for Kojiro Sasaki.
These three join the previously announced cast that includes Miyuki Sawashiro (Hunter x Hunter, Durarara!!, Sword Art Online) as the Valkyrie Brunhilde, Tomoyo Kurosawa (Sound! Euphonium, Astra Lost in Space) as the youngest Valkyrie sister Göll, Tomokazu Seki (Fate/stay night, Fullmetal Panic!) as the hero Lu Bu, Hikaru Midorikawa (Code Geass, Fate/Zero) as the god Thor, Wataru Takagi (Great Teacher Onizuka, Dorohedoro) as the god Zeus, Sōma Saitō (Akame ga Kill!, Terror in Resonance) as the mortal Adam, Kazuhiro Yamaji (Attack on Titan, 91 Days) as swordsman Kojiro Sasaki, Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Free!, The Seven Deadly Sins) as the god Shiva and Takahiro Sakurai (Code Geass, Mob Psycho 100) as the god Poseidon.
Masao Ookubo, who has previously worked as an episode director for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Saint Seiya Omega, will direct the series, with studio Graphinica (Hellsing Ultimate, Hello World) producing. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Black Clover) is in charge of series composition, and Masaki Sato (Slam Dunk, Initial D: Fifth Stage) is in charge of character design. Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail, Naruto Shippūden) will compose the soundtrack.
Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui's Record of Ragnarok manga originally began serializing in Monthly Comic Zenon in 2017 and has been compiled into 10 volumes since then. The controversial ongoing manga depicts a deadly tournament between gods and men. When the council of gods convenes and decides that humanity should be wiped out, the Valkyrie Brunhilde proposes that the human race be given a chance in a tournament. Thirteen of the strongest mortals across history face the gods. If humanity manages to win seven of the duels, their race will be preserved. In order to even the odds, Brunhilde and her sisters risk their lives and assist the human champions by transforming into powerful weapons for them to use.
