Production on the ongoing anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens has officially been suspended as a result of the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
"In order to create a program that takes into consideration the spread of [the] new Coronavirus infection, we decided to temporarily suspend animation production," reads a statement posted to the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime franchise's official Twitter page (translated from Japanese). "Along with this, it will be re-broadcast from the next broadcast (TV Toyko series May 9 broadcast, BS TV East May 15 broadcast)."

New episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens air Saturdays on TV Tokyo. The anime premiered its first episode on April 4, with the fifth and most recent episode debuting yesterday, May 2. According to the Twitter update, it appears TV Tokyo will begin airing reruns next Saturday, May 9. At this time, it is unclear when production on the anime will resume.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens was first announced in 2019 as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters anime, which originally began in April of 2000. As its name implies, Sevens is the seventh anime in the official Yu-Gi-Oh! anime chronology, following Duel Monsters, GX, 5D's, Zexal, Arc-V and Vrains. It is also the franchise's eighth anime overall, including Toei Animation's original Yu-Gi-Oh! series from 1998 (known colloquially as Season 0). However, much like Vrains -- its direct predecessor -- Sevens appears to lack an accompanying manga.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise began life in 1996 as a Shonen Jump manga written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi. In addition to the various spinoff manga series and subsequent anime adaptations and feature films, Yu-Gi-Oh! has also spawned an incredibly popular trading card game.
