Hi Andrew Canlon, how’s it going?
Busy but good, thank you!
What excites you most about the opportunities and challenges awaiting you this year?
What excites me the most is that 2025 is all about music for me. Music has become my full-time job and although there are plenty of challenges, I can’t complain. This is what I’ve always wanted.
Are there any upcoming tracks or releases you’re particularly looking forward to sharing with your fans?
Yes, absolutely. I have one single that I personally think is one of the best songs I’ve ever written coming out in 2025. It’s another collaboration with my good friend Dmitry Libman.
What are your main goals for 2025, both musically and personally?
My main goal is to get out and play, which is already happening. I’m so happy to be playing a Breaking Sound showcase in Brooklyn later this month. I have been enjoying getting out and connecting with so many new artists and collaborating. Getting further integrated into the New York scene feels really good.
You’ve spoken about your commitment to blending Classical Music with Electronic production. How do you plan to expand or evolve this approach in the coming year?
There’s a reason why you don’t hear a ton of Classical elements in today’s Electronic Music. It’s really hard to do. I love Classical Music – mainly Mozart and Hans Zimmer, to name something more contemporary. I’m always looking to weave it in when I can. I think my style of piano leans toward Classical. I’m always inclined to add strings, horns, choirs, etc. I think the best word to use in reference to my Classical approach would be orchestral.
Are there any specific venues or festivals you’re aiming to perform at in 2025?
I’m already excited to have joined Breaking Sound. With that said, I would love to return and perform at ADE. There are some fantastic local promotions in New York that I’m currently pursuing. We Belong Here is a huge target on my list. I’m practicing DJ sets just so I can play a show for them.
What role do you think collaboration will play in your music throughout 2025? Are there any partnerships in the works?
It is going to play a massive role this year. As of today, I have a topline being worked on by a fairly prominent Canadian DJ that I’m very excited about. I’m also working on another topline for a DJ/Producer from Berlin. After that, I’ll move on to working on another collaboration with a DJ from the UK. I’m also working with several artists locally in New York as well. I’m happy to be asked to lend my voice to projects. It’s a very flattering request and I’m always thrilled to be able to do that.
Reflecting on your artistic journey so far, what’s one lesson from 2024 you’re taking into 2025?
The biggest lesson for me is not to get my hopes too high or too low. For me, success is about consistency. I’m not interested in instant gratification, but I’m also not the type to procrastinate. It’s very liberating to be able to devote all of my time to cultivating great music, so I’m going to stay the course. No matter what. I’ve fought to be here, so I’ll continue to fight to reach more listeners and give them something to bring joy to their lives. That’s how I define my job as a musician. It’s my job to make people tap into their emotions. I want to move people.
As you continue to grow as an artist, how are you working to establish a stronger connection with your fan base in 2025?
That’s a really great question. I think all I can do is be my authentic self. I’m not the savviest when it comes to social media. I have a very traditional music background where the focus was about proficiency and being the best you could possibly be. What I’ve learned by watching other artists perform is that being the best isn’t what’s important. What really matters is being honest with your audience. Giving them a way to feel they have shared experiences with you as the person they came to see. I think that’s a very strong connection and I can feel myself getting more and more comfortable in that space with each and every show. So, in the end, I think the best way to connect with my fans would be to get on stage as often as possible.
What inspires you most about the current state of Electronic Music as you look ahead?
What inspires me the most about the current landscape of Electronic Music is the expansiveness of the palette. Some of the instruments we’re using, whether they’re analog or digital, are absolutely massive. One synth preset can have such power and presence that the challenge suddenly becomes “how can I build on this without crowding the mix”? I’m totally blown away by that. It’s tremendously empowering to play with sounds and discover tones that sound so epic and grand, they sound almost heavenly.
Finally, what message would you like to share with your audience as you embark on the next year in your career?
I want to thank each and every one of you for your support and I would urge you to please get out to a live show, because that’s where the magic happens. The promise I make to the audience is that I’ll play at least one new track per show, so it’s always new. Also, please follow me on Instagram, as it makes a huge difference as well. That’s also where I share all the latest news and developments.
