It's a Joestar family reunion in two new pieces of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure art.
The new art was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of studio David Production's Jojo's Bizarre Adventure anime series. Initially revealed through the series' official anniversary website, the first piece of art depicts the six central protagonists who have appeared in the anime adaptation so far, beginning with the original Jonathan Joestar and ending with the star of the current Stone Ocean arc, Jolene Cujoh. A second piece of art, which features the heroes stylishly dropping down from the Tokyo Skytree landmark, was also revealed to promote an upcoming anniversary exhibition at the location. The exhibit will run from May 10 until Aug. 9 and will feature a special cafe serving Jojo-themed food and a gift shop with exclusive merchandise. The popular Tokyo tourist attraction will also be lit up in special colors representing characters from the Jojo franchise for the duration of the event.
In addition to the in-person event, the anniversary will also be marked by the release of a music encyclopedia for the series, which features all of the iconic songs that have appeared in the series. 2022 will also see the release of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, a remastered version of the PS3-exclusive All Star Battle game, which will be updated with new visuals and an expanded roster of over 50 total playable characters. The game will be released next fall for the Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PCs via Steam.
The current Jojo's Bizarre Adventure anime series first premiered in October of 2012. The series is the second attempt to adapt Hirohiko Araki's long-running shonen manga to animation; the original anime series was released in 1993 and was created by A.P.P.P., the animation studio behind classic anime such as Project A-Ko and Roujin Z. While the current anime series from David Production is seeking to adapt the entirety of Araki's generation spanning epic, A.P.P.P's original direct-to-video series only adapted the series' third arc, Stardust Crusaders.
David Production's adaptation has been both a critical and commercial success since its debut and has been credited with helping to introduce a new generation of fans to the Joestar family and their over-the-top battles with Dio Brando and his followers. The anime series is currently on fifth season, which adapts the six part of the manga, entitled Stone Ocean. Unlike previous seasons, Stone Ocean is being released internationally exclusively through Netflix, which is releasing new episodes of the show intermittently in batches. The first 12 episodes of the season were released last December, and the streaming recently confirmed that the next 12 episodes of the series will premiere sometime next fall.
