A new teaser trailer for the second part of 2021's hit anime 86 EIGHTY-SIX has dropped.
The official Twitter account for 86 EIGHTY-SIX revealed the first teaser for the mecha anime's second cour. Set to the first season's ending song "Avid" by composer Hiroyuki Sawano and singer mizuki, the teaser offers a glimpse of a more hardened Major Vladilena Milizé wandering around the Republic of San Magnolia and promises an October 2021 return for the series.

While there is currently little information available about the plot for the second half of the season, there has been a great deal of speculation about the fate of 86 EIGHTY-SIX's characters and the future of the war they find themselves in since the first half's conclusion. The trailer does confirm that Ikumi Hasegawa (How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, Love After World Domination) will reprise her role as protagonist Vladilena, however.
Based on the highly successful and award-winning light novels written by Asato Asato and illustrated by Shirabii, 86 EIGHTY-SIX depicts a futuristic world where countries engage in bloodless battles fought between unmanned robots... Or so the Republic of San Magnolia claims. Vladilena Milizé, a young major in the San Magnolian army, knows better, as she works as a Handler, virtually directing and communicating with the robot's actual human pilots from a safe distance. Her new assignment to the Spearhead Squadron and her interactions with its enigmatic commander Shinei Nouzen challenges everything she thought she knew about her homeland, the marginalized race known as the "86" who pilot the Republic's tanks, and the autonomous Legion they fight against. Her experiences force her to reconsider the very nature of the war she finds herself trying to end.
