Yasuke, Netflix's anime about the legendary Black samurai, will receive a manga adaptation in July.
According to Anime News Network, a brief teaser for the adaptation was revealed in the August issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Spirits magazine. Penned by manga author Satoshi Okunishi, the first chapter of the series will debut on July 27 in the magazine's next issue.
A screenshot of the reveal in Monthly Spirits was shared on Twitter by the Manga Mogura RE account, which regularly posts news about upcoming manga publications. This tweet was retweeted by Flying Lotus, the producer of the Yasuke soundtrack, who confirmed the upcoming manga.

There is currently no indication whether the manga will be a straightforward retelling of the anime, which intertwined facts about the real-life 16th century Yasuke -- the first non-Japanese person to wear a samurai's twin swords in the service of daimyo Oda Nobunaga -- with more extravagant fantasy fare, like magic and giant robots.
Along with the upcoming manga, Yasuke may receive another season in the near future. In late April, Flying Lotus confirmed on Twitter that the anime's six-episode first season was merely "an introduction to this world," and it was "just the beginning" for Yasuke's adventures.
Yasuke debuted on Netflix in April, starring LaKeith Stanfield as the voice of the titular samurai. The series was created by LeSean Thomas, who previously worked as a creative producer and director on Adult Swim's Black Dynamite show, as well as Cannon Busters, another Netflix original series.
