WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Episode 28 of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, "The Barrier at Mount Musubi," now streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Animelab and Hulu.
After an entire season without their parents, the half-demon princesses finally discover their parents' whereabouts in Season 2 of Yashahime -- thanks to the barrier at Mount Musubi. When the barrier tests the cousins by showing them what they wish to protect, Setsuna finds herself in the Tree of Ages with her mother Rin.
Meanwhile, Moroha hurdles past Inuyasha and Kagome, who are at the gravesite of the Great Dog Demon. Now that they've located their parents, Yashahime fans are excited to see if these families will finally be reunited.
As the three cousins go to Mount Musubi in search of the Kyūyōkon Root, the barrier full of demonic energy sends Towa and Setsuna across space and time to show them what they wish to protect -- and what they must let go of. However, Moroha finds herself immune to the barrier due to her strong spiritual powers, which she found emanating from the center of the mountain. Moroha stumbles upon Rion, who's introduced as Kirinmaru's daughter and sleeps at the center of the mountain. When Rion warns her that Towa and Setsuna are trapped in the barrier and may not be able to leave, Moroha says she wishes to save them.
Rion grants Moroha's wish, but she must face what she wishes to protect within the barrier. Given this condition, Moroha travels between the worlds of the living and the dead to where her grandfather is laid to rest. While hurdling through the air, she spots her parents at the gravesite and recognizes them from the pictures Sota showed her. Inuyasha and Kagome call out to her as she flies by before sharing a tender moment where they're proud of Moroha's growth. Now that Mount Musubi revealed her parents' location and her desire to protect them, it's only a matter of time before Moroha goes searching for them in the border between the living world and the afterlife.
While Moroha searches for her twin cousins within the barrier, she first finds Towa wandering around in the present day. This illusion reveals Towa's desire to protect the present and her family with the Higurashis despite her need to let go of the modern world. After Moroha finds Towa, she saves her from the illusion with one of her sacred arrows until they reunite with Setsuna at the Tree of Ages.
When Setsuna is faced with the sleeping Rin in the Tree of Ages, she realizes the unconscious woman felt very familiar. She soon recalls the loving tune that gets stuck in her head because Rin would hum it to the twins while she was pregnant. Once the Tree of Ages tells Setsuna that Rin is her human mother, she plays the tune on her violin and decides she wants to protect her mother. Setsuna asks the Tree of Ages how to save her mother who's frozen in time, and is told she can use her Yukari no Tachikiri to sever the link between Rin and Zero's fates.
After discovering their parents' current locations, the half-demon princesses successfully acquire the Kyūyōkon Root at the center of Mount Musubi. Now that these secret locations have finally come to light, the cousins have the vital information they need to save and protect their parents. With this major development, Yashahime fans are left eagerly awaiting for the emotional reunion between these beloved families.
