WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Episode 35 of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, "Battle on the New Moon, Part 2," now streaming on Crunchyroll, Funimation, Animelab, and Hulu.
While Rin wasn't born with extraordinary demon powers like the rest of her family in Yashahime, her motherly love is a human strength that binds them all together. Despite being frozen in time and having her life threatened by Zero, her mortal and fleeting existence continues to fuel the fighting spirit within Sesshōmaru and their daughters. Even after reawakening to find herself dying from the Silver-Scale Curse, Rin remains solely concerned about the safety and happiness of Towa and Setsuna.
After Zero tied Rin's fate to her own and put the Silver-Scale Curse on her to get revenge on Sesshōmaru, she offers to break the curse in exchange for the location of their twin half-demon daughters. While Sesshōmaru contemplates Zero's deal, Rin doesn't hesitate to aim Sesshōmaru's sword at herself as a sacrifice in order to protect their daughters. Despite her human mortality and fragility -- further emphasized by her powerful family and their supernatural enemies who threaten her life time and time again -- Rin never once shies away from their lifestyle or regrets being with Sesshōmaru.
Honoring his wife's wishes to keep their children hidden from Zero, Sesshōmaru is forced to place Rin inside the Tree of Ages where her time is frozen to prevent the curse from progressing and killing her. For years, Rin and Setsuna have been connected through the Dream Butterfly that steals Setsuna's dreams and transfers them into her mother to keep her asleep.
However, Towa and Setsuna don't discover their mother's location and condition until they're caught in an illusion at Mount Musubi that shows what they wish to protect the most. Setsuna vows to save her mother and become stronger until she can wield her Yukari no Tachikiri well enough to sever the string of fate tying Rin and Zero together. After making up her mind, her father Sesshōmaru tests her resolve by cutting down the Dream Butterfly that connects Setsuna to her mother.
With the Dream Butterfly suddenly out of play, Rin's time within the Tree of Ages begins again while Setsuna is able to fall sleep for the first time in years. Rin finally awakens to find Sesshōmaru and Jaken visiting her inside the Tree, where Jaken vocally expresses concern for Rin's deteriorating condition while Sesshōmaru stares silently at his wife. Despite her dire state, Rin doesn't fear her own death and tells her husband she simply wishes to see her daughters one last time. As a loving human mother who always puts her children first no matter the circumstances, Rin can sense Towa's tears and warns Sesshōmaru that she's crying.
Not only is Rin's motherly love the greatest power she can offer to her supernatural family in Yashahime, but it also drives them to become more powerful themselves. Her safety is the most important thing to Sesshōmaru and their half-demon daughters who love and want to protect her. With the vital motivation to save Rin in such a short time, her family is forced to go above and beyond to become strong enough to take down their enemies. As Zero and Kirinmaru continue to threaten them and bring about the Degenerate Age, Sesshōmaru's family is becoming a solid front united by a common goal to protect their vulnerable and human loved one.
Now that Rin is awake and the Silver-Scale Curse is progressing, time is running out for the half-demon princesses to save their mother. While it's up to Setsuna to successfully sever the link between Zero and Rin, many Yashahime fans expect to see Sesshōmaru team up with his daughters to protect her. As Rin's human and motherly love continues to watch over her family, they aim to prove that love is more powerful than any supernatural ability.
