Walker Season 2, Episode 17, “Torn,” Recap & Spoilers

In the wake of being reunited with Twyla Jean, his old paramour from his undercover days, Cordell Walker has completely seen his personal life shift. His girlfriend, Geri Broussard, grew jealous of the reunited couple, seemingly ending things with the Texas Ranger as she looked more to her newly discovered family, the Davidsons, for support. And as Stella approaches her high school graduation, she has her own romantic rollercoaster, torn between the two boys vying for her amorous attention.

With Walker and Geri’s relationship off for the foreseeable future in the wake of her learning her true parentage and Walker growing closer to Twyla, Walker spends more time with Twyla, to the consternation of Walker's brother Liam. Denise summons both Walker and Twyla to her office, needing Twyla’s expertise to infiltrate a money laundering organization using a local horse auction as a front, with Walker uncomfortable by the proposition. Sensing trouble, the group attempts to infiltrate from the auction before they are intercepted by the money launderers, resulting in a full-on fistfight, with Walker and his partner Cassie Perez emerging triumphant and taking the crooks into police custody.

Aroused by the success of the bust, Twyla and Walker hook up immediately after wrapping up the money laundering case. Stella undergoes some romantic drama of her own, with her boyfriend Todd getting jealous of her growing interest in Colton Davidson leading to the two boys fighting at school. Trey Barnett manages to break up the fight, not before taking an errant punch to the jaw from Todd, while he prepares to take a job with the Rangers to provide counseling services based on Captain Larry James’ recommendation.

Unable to handle a more casual fling, Walker attempts to start a committed romantic relationship with Twyla, despite Geri’s vocal misgivings about the decision. After meeting with August, Twyla decides there is too much messy history between her and Walker, dating back to his undercover assignment when they first met, resulting in her rebuffing Walker’s continued advances. Denise is similarly uncomfortable growing close to Geri, despite the two women learning that they are sisters, but concedes to sharing a drink with her and allowing herself to bond with her newfound sibling.

The following morning, Walker discovers Twyla has fled her new home, leaving a distraught Walker searching for her before she learns the District Attorney is having her relocated to a different county. At first, Walker suspects Denise of being behind the move, jealous of their romantic entanglement, before discovering that Twyla personally requested the county transfer to get some distance. This occurs as Stella and Todd amicably break up, with Todd encouraged to let her go based on his own private conversation with Trey after his brief fisticuffs with Colton.

Stella and Colton finally embark on their own romance following this conversation, ready to enjoy the summer between high school and college together as they kiss in the school parking lot where they first met months ago. As Walker commiserates over his own romantic woes to Liam, he begins to dig deeper into the horse auction that he busted earlier with Twyla. With his suspicions growing, Walker realizes that the Davidsons may have cheated in their horse race to seize control of the Walker ranch, reigniting the family feud.
