Future Joy’s journey is as unconventional as their sound. Started by saxophonist Zach Simms in 2018 before finding its final form when Emily Cooper joined in 2019, the duo has literally driven their way into dance music’s consciousness with their mobile RV stage, splitting time between Denver’s mile-high scene and St. Petersburg’s coastal vibes.
Their latest track “Just Breathe,” a collaboration with UnderLux, showcases their unique position in electronic music. What began as UnderLux’s driving tech house foundation evolved with Cooper’s vocals and Simms’ multi-saxophone arsenal. The serendipitous lyrics about breathing and freedom found their perfect visual expression when the duo headlined TSK Festival at Skydive The Ranch, leading to a music video shoot that saw them taking their saxophone to 12,000 feet.
Between support slots for The Polish Ambassador and BoomBox, and appearances at Hulaween and Elements Festival, Future Joy’s mobile stage setup has allowed them to bring their genre-bending sound (they touch everything from house to dubstep to jazz) to crowds across the country. “Just Breathe” captures this freewheeling spirit – both on the ground and, now, in the air.
