UMEK’s 1605 kick starts 2022 with a fiery two track techno release from label favourite Mha Iri.
Mha Iri dropped her 1605 debut on one of the label’s mixed artist releases in 2021, and the success of that track led to three solo EPs plus a collaborative track made with UMEK called “Watchers of the Sky”.
Watchers of the Sky was one of 1605’s biggest selling tracks of last year, and it solidified Mha Iri’s position as one of the label’s most popular artists.
Originally from Scotland, Mha Iri spent many years in Australia, where she was at the forefront of the country’s club scene. Her skills behind the decks earned her a large Australian fanbase, and her early productions on labels such as Markantonio’s AnalyticTrail and Spektre’s Respekt opened her up to international audiences.
Both of the immersive techno tracks on this EP are a charismatic blend of enthralling synth lines and thundering percussion.
First of the two tracks “Open Up” starts with building suspense as the stabbing lead synths slowly emerge from the pulsating sub-bass. The captivating vocal samples and driving percussion subside for the epic breakdown, before plunging back into darkness for an explosive finish.
The second track, “Resistance” is another rollercoaster of a track that delivers a white-knuckle ride that switches between the brutality of the pounding percussion, and spine-tingling euphoria of the breakdowns. Augmented with a grinding bass texture, this monstrous techno track is perfect for the dance floor.
Release Date is on Friday, 21st January. Grab it on Beatport.
