TONIKAWA: Nasa Is Working Himself to the Bone – Until Tsukasa Intervenes

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Episode 12 of TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Nasa Yuzaki has always been a hard worker -- maybe a little too hard. Since marrying Tsukasa, he won't give himself a break. Tsukasa, in contrast, is rather easygoing and finds pleasure in the little things. She will take whatever comes, and she isn't too eager to flaunt her material possessions. Nasa, though, is determined to give his new bride the ultimate romantic gesture, and at the rate that he's pushing himself, he might collapse.

Nasa Juggles One Ball Too Many

Nasa is working hard to help his landlord figure out the logistics of rebuilding his old apartment. He sets up three laptops at once and lets his fingers fly, rapidly crunching the numbers to try and help his landlord get business back on track. Tsukasa can hardly believe it; doesn't Nasa ever take a break? Evidently, he doesn't, and Tsukasa goes through her evening routine and retires to bed, with Nasa burning the midnight oil the entire time. Dawn comes, and Nasa is just barely finished.

Nasa doesn't realize the toll that all this takes on him. He's running a serious fever, which only Tsukasa notices. She rushes him to the hospital for the day. Once Nasa returns, he has to take medicine and rest. Tsukasa wants to be a caring, loving wife during her husband's moment of need. Tsukasa has felt a little bad about her passive role in the marriage, and she just wants to contribute. Nasa understands that, though his "I must do all the work myself" mentality will take some time to phase out.

Make It Official At The Festival

Why exactly was Nasa pushing himself so hard? It wasn't just out of habit -- he wanted to make time for the upcoming summer festival, and take his wife there for an evening of fun and festivities. Tsukasa visits the Arisugawa family bathhouse and consults Kaname, who suggests a lovely pink yukata, and Tsukasa is on board with the idea. Back home, Tsukasa has another embarrassing moment with Nasa, where he tentatively asks if he can at least get a peek at her getting changed. Tsukasa says yes at the last second, and Nasa watched in wide-eyed wonder as Tsukasa finishes up her yukata. Once Nasa is decked out in his own yukata, it's time to get going.

Familiar faces show up at the festival, and Tsukasa is happy to see them all. By now, everyone is good friends, especially since Chitose and Tsukasa settled their differences in Street Fighter. Aya and Chitose watch as Nasa tries to catch some fish, but alas, Nasa can't catch a single thing. Still, the young Yuzakis dig into some takoyaki balls and are looking forward to the fireworks display. At the local shrine, Tsukasa prays for world peace, stability in the universe and Nasa's good health. She wants her beloved to stay healthy and take good care of himself. Nasa, for his part, listens as Tsukasa explains that anyone can make fun of Nasa or encourage bad habits, but only the people who truly care for him will speak up when he's pushing himself too hard or making unhealthy decisions.

Nasa agrees; he's fortunate enough to have two parents, a wife, and many friends who are looking out for him, and he should repay them with healthy living and gratitude for everything he has. On that note, Nasa and Tsukasa are reunited with their friends, and they watch the fireworks go off in the warm summer night. As he watches, Nasa vows to himself that he will stay faithful to his wife and his marriage, no matter how many seasons pass, and he'll prove his devotion to Tsukasa every day without fail. That's the Yuzaki way.
