The original anime series Tiger & Bunny is set to make its return to Netflix this year, and the upcoming season's latest trailer teases new characters and more superhero action.
Season 2's trailer introduces three new superpowered characters and reveals their voice actors: Nobunaga Shimazaki (Lupin the Third Part 6) is voicing Thomas Taurus/He Is Thomas, Shōya Chiba (Banana Fish) is playing Subaru Sengoku/Mr. Black and Tomori Kusunoki (The Misfit of Demon King Academy) voices Lara Tchaikoskaya/Magical Cat. The trailer also confirms that the second season of Tiger & Bunny will debut on Netflix on April 8.
Several voice actors from the first season of the anime are reprising their roles for Season 2. This includes Hiroaki Hirata (Fena: Pirate Princess) as Kotetsu T. Kaburagi/Wild Tiger, Masakazu Morita (World Trigger) as Barnaby Brooks Jr., Minako Kotobuki (Your Lie in April) as Karina Lyle/Blue Rose, Taiten Kusunoki (How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom) as Antonio Lopez/Rock Bison and Mariya Ise (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) as Pao-Lin Huang.
Multiple members of the creative team are returning as well. Masafumi Nishida (RE-MAIN) is once again serving as Tiger & Bunny's story director, Yoshihiro Ike (Kuroko's Basketball) is composing the music and Masakazu Katsura (Zetman) is designing the characters. Atsuko Kase (Young Black Jack) joins the team as the anime's new director.
Set in a futuristic world where superheroes fight crimes while also promoting real-life sponsors, Tiger & Bunny follows professional heroes Kotetsu and Barnaby, who are forced to work together by their employers. Beyond the first season, the anime has inspired two tie-in movies. Tiger & Bunny The Movie: The Beginning premiered in September 2012 and was followed up with the second film, Tiger & Bunny The Movie: The Rising, in February 2014. Season 2 is set two years after the events of the second movie.
Tiger & Bunny has inspired multiple adaptations in other mediums as well, including a one-shot manga series by Masakazu Katsura and two video games, Tiger & Bunny On Air Jack! and Tiger & Bunny Heroes Day. Moreover, a live-action stage play, titled Tiger & Bunny the Live, ran at Tokyo's Zepp Diver City theater from August to September 2012. In 2015, a live-action Hollywood film adaptation was announced at New York Comic Con. Veteran producers Ron Howard (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Brian Thomas Grazer (Tick, Tick... Boom!) are signed on to the project.
Before the new season debuts, superhero fans can revisit the world of Tiger & Bunny by watching the anime's first season, which is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu.
