The Honor Student at Magic High School: Release Date, Trailer, Plot & News to Know

The Honor Student at Magic High School is one of several spin-offs and sequels to the massively popular The Irregular at Magic High School franchise. The property began as a series of web novels that later became light novels, manga and of course anime. Honor Student was one such manga, and it's now receiving an anime adaptation of its own.

Where the main series focuses on the magic-less Tatsuya Shiba, The Honor Student at Magic High School focuses on his studious sister, Miyuki Shiba. Unlike the main series, Honor Student will take a more slice-of-life style approach to its story. Here's what fans should expect from the upcoming series and when it's coming out.

The Honor Student at Magic High School Plot

The Honor Student at Magic High School, much like the original manga, is a reversal of the original series' plot and circumstances. The Irregular at Magic High School features a world filled with magic, with individual aptitude determined by genetics. For this reason, those with magic proficiency are sent to special schools to hone their skills. Among these students is Miyuki Shiba, accompanied by her bodyguard and brother, Tatsuya. Tatsuya lacks magical powers, but makes up for it with great strength, tactical thinking and skill.

The new anime will retell Irregular's events but from Miyuki's perspective, focusing less on the fights and antics of the stoic, overpowered Tatsuya and more on relationships and Miyuki's school life. Unlike Tatsuya, Miyuki actually has magic, meaning Honor Student will have a sense of progression as she focuses on her academics and honing her abilities.

The Honor Student at Magic High School Trailer

The first teaser trailer for the series was released a few months back, giving viewers a glimpse into how Honor Student will differ from the main series. The presentation is a lot softer and lighter, reflecting the more relaxed atmosphere and mundane scope of the series. Instead of hinting at what battles are to come, the trailer mostly shows Miyuki preparing to begin her career at First High School.
