WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt Episode 9, "The Little Princess Who Could," now streaming on Funimation.
Princess Lowellmina “Lowa” of Earthworld was originally introduced in Episode 3 of The Genius Prince’s Guide to propose marriage to Prince Wein. This was part of a scheme to ascend to the throne as Empress of Earthworld and avert a pending rebellion with the backing of another kingdom, Natra, due to a recent war victory against Marden. Prior to the episode’s events, Lowa and Wein were childhood friends known to scheme and execute plans together. Some of their exploits included unearthing treasonous plots before they actually happened.
In the present timeline, Wein helps Lowa avert a rebellion, but she decides not to follow through with their political marriage. As it turns out, Lowa is actually in love with Wein and wants to pursue a relationship with him for honest reasons. Since then, she has been working toward becoming Empress of Earthworld without her older brothers' knowledge. After Wein returned to Natra from his recent visit to Cavarin, Lowa invited him to Mealtars, a city being added to the Earthworld empire.
With Wein too busy dealing with political matters back in Natra, his younger sister, Princess Falanya, visits Mealtars in his stead and exercises her own knowledge. This catches Lowa off guard but she decides to work with Falanya all the same as it's still an opportunity to advance to the throne. She even asks Ninym to ask Falanya to put in a good word for her in exchange for letting her attend the summit to decide the next emperor. Instead, Ninym resumes her rivalry with Lowa and declines the offer on Wein's orders. Unfortunately for both women, they have bigger fish to fry.
Lowa's oldest brother, Prince Demetrio, has cooked up a scheme of his own. Feeling humiliated by Falanya attending his summit in place of Wein, he proposes marriage to her as a way of enacting revenge against Wein. Lowa and Ninym know he means to abuse her and immediately join her to protect her against Demetrio. Luckily for the women, Wein arrives just in time to prevent a disastrous union.
Not knowing he's just walked in on a marriage proposal that "requires" his consent, Wein internally laments his bad timing. He then remembers Lowa's earlier marriage proposal and decides to act on it by "happily" telling Demetrio he is excited for his union with his sister as it would mean two of Natra's monarchs would be married to royal members of the empire. Demetrio, completely unaware of this news, is caught off guard. Lowa plays along and "confirms" that she and Wein are engaged, which was put on hold due to the sabotaged rebellion.
With Demetrio flustered, Ninym steps in to "remind" Wein that members of the Natra royal family cannot be exclusively married into one royal family as it's "against the law" there. This "jogs" Wein's memory and he realizes that "this means Falanya cannot marry Demetrio because he's already engaged to his sister." Wein, Lowa and Ninym's impromptu play helps Falanya dodge a bullet, with the latter later having a talk with her brother about political marriages. Wein confirms that as monarchs, political marriages are inevitable, so they must choose their partners carefully.
Despite the fact Wein has no real intention to marry Lowa, he will play the part of her fiancé long enough to help her ascend the throne. There is, however, the matter of Lowa's lingering feelings for Wein. While she knows he'll never love her the way she loves him, she decides to meet with him privately to tell him the reality of Earthworld's situation. In reality, citizens of the empire have given up on her older brothers becoming emperor, which Wein recognizes gives Lowa a significant advantage.
Lowa herself is most likely aware she has a stronger chance of being crowned Empress of Earthworld but appears to be scared of what this entails. She then asks him for his honest opinion of her, to which he jokingly tells her he thinks she's stupid and that he will move on without her. Lowa appears to take his words seriously, but promises to rope him into her narrative and that she will not lose.
While Wein isn't threatened by Lowa, considering he has bigger problems to deal with -- the Holy Elite coming for his head and Lowa's brother Prince Manfred planning his assassination -- an alliance with her may be what he needs. Whether or not he marries Lowa out of convenience, however, remains a burning question as The Genius Prince's Guide continues.
