Funimation has dropped a new trailer for its upcoming historical romance anime, Taisho Otome Fairy Tale.
The trailer gives eager fans a preview of what to expect in the unlikely love story between an outcast and a girl who unexpectedly appears and claims to be his bride. The story explores themes of rediscovering love and self-acceptance.
Animation studio SynergySP (Beyblade: Metal Fury, Battle Game in 5 Seconds) is producing Taisho Otome Fairy Tale and Jun Hatori (Beyblade: Metal Masters, Cross Game) is directing. The show stars veteran voice actors Yusuke Kobayashi (Love After World Domination, Dr. Stone) as Tamahiko Shima and Saya Aizawa (Monster Girl Doctor, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation) as Yuzuki Tachibana.
Sana Kirioka's original manga of the same name was published in Shueisha's Jump Square from July 4, 2015 to Sept. 4, 2017, and it produced a sequel, titled Shōwa Otome Otogi Banashi, which ran from Aug. 21, 2018 to May 12, 2020. Currently, it is unknown if the Taisho Otome Fairy Tale anime will adapt storylines from the sequel series.
Taisho Otome Fairy Tale is scheduled to premiere Oct. 8 in Japan and Funimation will simulcast the show, meaning it joins the streaming service's fall lineup which includes Selection Project, Season 2 of Restaurant to Another World and Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon: The Second Act.
