Studio Ghibli's iconic anime film Spirited Away will be taking to the stage in London and Japan once again in 2024, and its cast has now been confirmed!
Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi, who originated the role of Chihiro, will once again perform as the leads. Rina Kawaei and Momoko Fukuchi will also share the role.
Haku will be played by Kotaro Daigo, Hiroki Miura, and Atsuki Mashiko. Kaonashi will be played by Kaiji Moriyama, Kenta Kojiri, Hikaru Yamano, and Satoshi Nakagawa. Lin and Chihiro's mother will be played by Fu Hinami, Yuki Hana, and Rion Misaki. Kamaji will be played by Tomorowo Taguchi, Satoshi Hashimoto, and Tomu Miyazaki. Yubaba and Zeniba will be played by Mari Natsuki, Romi Park, Aki Hano, and Hitomi Harukaze.
Adapted from Hayao Miyazaki's original film by John Caird, the production made its worldwide premiere in Tokyo in February 2022, going on to hold performances in Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Nagoya.
The upcoming performances will begin in Tokyo in March 2024, with a London Coliseum run set for April 30 to August 24.
First released in 2001, Spirited Away follows 10-year-old Chihiro Ogino, who finds herself trapped in a world full of spirits. In order to free her parents and go back to her life as a human, she works in a bathhouse with the help of a mysterious boy named Haku.
One of Studio Ghibli's most popular films, Spirited Away earned both critical and financial success worldwide, going on to receive the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2003.
