Smell Like a Cyberpunk With Ghost in the Shell French Perfume

Ghost in the Shell is a mainstay of the manga/anime industry, having produced a wealth of television series, films and video games. Now, the franchise has an official fragrance thanks to Etat libre d'Orange.

The French perfume brand uploaded a promotional trailer to announce its new scent, and while the trailer reveals the fragrance's official tagline -- "From the bottom of the matter, Rise up" -- it does not provide any clear indication of what the perfume actually smells like.

Set in mid-21st century Japan, the Ghost in the Shell franchise tells the story of Major Motoko Kusanagi and the fictional counter-cyberterrorist organization Public Security Section 9. The franchise started with the release of Masamune Shirow's seinen manga series of the same name in 1989; since then, it has had a profound impact on pop culture, inspiring the films like the Wachowskis' The Matrix and James Cameron's Avatar and influencing video games like Deus ExMetal Gear Solid and Cyberpunk 2077.

The Ghost in the Shell perfume isn't the only thing that has fans of the franchise excited. As previously reported, a trailer for the compilation movie Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable Warfare dropped recently, and an announcement was made about the original anime film's re-release in IMAX theaters recently.

Several entries in the Ghost in the Shell franchises can be streamed on Netflix and Funimation.
