A new trailer for Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time offers a preview for the upcoming spinoff anime of the long-running multimedia franchise.
Netflix's official trailer focuses predominantly on Rei Furuya (aka. Toru Amuro), who will once again be voiced by Toru Furuya (One Piece), and showcases Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time's opening and ending theme songs -- "Shooting Star" by RAKURA and "Find the truth" by Rainy. Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time will be available to stream worldwide on Netflix sometime in July 2022.
Gosho Aoyama's Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) manga began serialization in January 1994 in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday, and Takahiro Arai's ongoing spinoff series, Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time, made its debut in the same magazine in 2018. The spinoff was positively received upon its release, ranking 6th on Honya Club's "Nationwide Bookstore Employee's Recommended Comics of 2018." So far, the series has produced five volumes worth of content.
TMS Entertainment (Lupin the Third Part 6) is producing the anime adaptation with Tomochi Kosaske (ReLIFE: Final Arc) serving as the show's director and Aya Oshimi (Tower of God) and Hitoshi Nishiyama (Akira) acting as the directors of photography. Yoshiko Nakamura (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) will supervise the series composition, with Kyōko Yoshimi (Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet) designing the characters and Kaori Yamada (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) handling the sound effects.
Alongside Furuya, Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time's cast features multiple popular and experienced voice actors. This includes Asako Dodo (Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon), Megumi Han (Black Clover), Mikki Enomoto (Case Closed) and Nobuo Tobita (InuYasha the Movie 4: Fire on the Mystic Island).
Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time isn't the only upcoming debut for the long-running franchise. The newest movie, Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, is scheduled for release in Japan on April 15 and will feature a new arrangement of the iconic Detective Conan theme song. "The pressure of being in charge of a nationally popular series that is loved by so many people kept me up at night, but I was able to complete the soundtrack with a lot of advice from the staff who have worked on the Detective Conan series many times," said composer Yugo Kanno. It was announced in August 2021 that another spinoff manga, Detective Conan: Police Academy Arc – Wild Police Story, would receive its own anime adaptation as well.
The anime adaptation of the original Detective Conan manga is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
