Rising star Qrion and Sasha collaborate on ‘Dry & High’, the latest release from Last Night On Earth’s TEN campaign as Sasha celebrates this key landmark for his imprint with ten collaborations and ten global special events.
Qrion has been clocking up the milestones herself – DJ Mag’s Future Star 2021, one of Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30, North American headline tours… the Japanese producer’s debut LP on Anjunadeep, ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ was also listed in Billboard 20 Best Dance Albums 2021. Her LNOE debut ‘Monolith’ in last year’sLNOE Introducing Vol.1 plus releases on labels like Mad Decent and Ultra Music, her support from BBC’s Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Sian Eleri, her remixing chops attracting artists like Alina Baraz, Lane 8, Catching Flies – all this makes her a shoo-in as one of the LNOE ‘TEN’.
Her style is eclectic, using sounds around her in her music, playing with genres, times, and textures to create a deeply individual hypnotic style of deceptively gentle house.
‘I love Qrion’s music and it was great to have her release on the label last year, her track did really well and the fans loved her’ Sasha says. ‘I sent her this demo which I’d been toying around with, she really connected with it and I loved what she sent back. We went back and forth on it a bit and it just came together really easily.’
‘Dry & High’ is a lo-fi feast, with a sweetly melodic vocal phased, fuzzed and shaped into an instrument over a stealthy cat-feet beat and quietly growling bass. A meditative musical mandala for those blissed-out club moments or intimate listening.
“I am so honoured to be able to collaborate with one of my favourite artists and love how the track ended up’ Qrion says. ‘Sound wise you can hear the elements unique to each of our producing styles. You can hear his classic style of bass and progressions and my vocal chops and melodic pad. I can’t wait to play it at the club!’
The track follows Sasha’s recent TEN collaborations with Photek, Alex Banks, Mr. Sosa and Pumarosa, all of which have been garnering strong support across top tier press and radio.
