One-Punch Man is a show that is known for its unique and often overpowered characters. Series protagonist Saitama is the best example of this. Seen by many as a hero whose power knows no rival, fans are quick to overlook one mysterious hero who may actually give "Caped Baldy" a run for his money - Watchdog Man.
While it may seem absurd to compare Watchdog Man's skills to Saitama's signature one-hit KO, Watchdog Man has some pretty impressive moves under his belt as well. His true power has never fully been shown but there are many hints to it justifying Watchdog Man's prominence as an S-Class hero. The Hero Association left him in charge of Q-City - the most dangerous city in the One-Punch Man universe - because of his mysterious strength. Watchdog Man has never lost a single fight against a foe, monster or human, and has won every battle he's been featured in. He even defended his city against an invading horde of powerful monsters, netting a flawless victory without suffering a single scratch - he didn't even need reinforcements.
Saitama's unrefined and unorthodox fighting style shows that he has no real affinity for martial arts, just using what works. Watchdog Man is similar, with the exception being that he fights as if he were truly a wild, four-legged beast. While his bored expression and dog-like demeanor might not show it, Watchdog Man is a dangerous and deadly adversary in hand-to-hand combat. This was on full display in his dealings with the monstrously powerful Garou. On multiple occasions, Garou was able to beat an number of heroes at once - including the S-ranked hero Tank-top Master. In that fight, he won using the same techniques that failed to work against Watchdog Man, as he easily evaded and countered the legendary "Fist of Flowing Water, Crushing Rock," soundly defeating the "Hero Hunter." By the end of their battle, Garou said that he was "lucky to even escape" and even called Watchdog Man "inhuman."
Watchdog Man's impressive abilities aren't limited to only his strength, as he boasts impressive speed and agility as well. Watchdog Man counters and outpaces his opponents with ease, able to seriously wound the exceptional Garou even while holding back. Fitting with his theme, Watchdog Man also has incredible hearing and an astonishing sense of smell, having all the qualities of a canine in his prime.
Although he is usually more nonchalant and straightforward than even Saitama, Watchdog Man is a tremendously vicious fighter, destroying monsters within seconds, giving them no opportunity to process what happened. The only time Watchdog Man shows any kind of compassion during battle is when he's fighting humans - he could have easily killed Garou with the same ease he does the monsters he usually fights, but he held back and spared the villain.
With a spotless record in battle and the ability to move faster than the human or monster eye can see, it's possible that Watchdog Man can at least rival Saitama's Herculean strength. Unfortunately, he's more of a side character, getting very little screen time even as an S-Class Rank 12 hero. The extent of his abilities haven't been fully explored in the manga or anime, either. But, based on what's been shown in his serious fights against monsters - and even in the fight where he curbed his own power against Garou - Watchdog Man has some serious skills, despite him being more man's best friend than actual man.
