WARNING: The following contains spoilers for New Gods: Nezha Reborn, now streaming on Netflix.
Netflix's New Gods: Nezha Reborn focuses on the violent Chinese god, Nezha finding a new form after being reincarnated, this time in the body of Li Yunxiang. With heaven in disarray, though, the Dragon King of the East Sea, Ao Guang, wants to enact a sadistic plan. A major part of this involves killing Yunxiang before he can harness his abilities, embrace his true identity and stop the villain.
With that in mind, let's dissect what the powers of all the film's key players are as Yunxiang tries to suss out friend from foe.
Li Yunxiang - Nezha, Reborn
Li Yunxiang, a smuggler and mechanic, spends most of his days racing around Donghai, pondering ways to bring water back to the town. But as he begins to let Nezha's essence mix more with his soul, we realize he's basically a fire god. He can harness flames as well as the giant fiery avatar of Nezha in the form of a spoiled brat.
Nezha himself has a flaming bow and arrow while Yunxiang acts somewhat like the Fantastic Four's Human Torch, using armor with vents to control the heat. He fashions a flaming double-tipped spear, and with his superhuman agility and flexibility, he's basically a red-hot super-soldier in battle. Once he can lock into Nezha fully, he'll be able to harness the Sky Ribbon and control the seas.
Six-Eared Macaque - The Monkey King
The Six-Eared Macaque wears a mask throughout most of the film, hiding his true identity. He has a metal rod he controls telepathically, using it to swiftly stab enemies to death. In addition, he has super speed and agility, making him tough to hit in battle. He can also conjure little mystical monkeys, which ties into who he really is...
... He's actually the legendary Monkey King, who's on Earth hoping to find his purpose and a way to repair the warring gods. Nezha's his last hope, but his powers are somewhat stymied as he doesn't have his Golden Staff, as per the ancient Chinese lore. Instead, he hides who he really is from the mob, making him come off as a neutral assassin (at first), hungry for Yunxiang to build him a new motorcycle.
Ao Guang - The Dragon King
The Dragon King is head of the De Clan and ruler of the Donghai district, from which he's secretly hoarding the entire water supply for himself. To do this, he stole the Sky Ribbon and uses it to control both the water and its River Dragons, as well as some mystical lions. This is done to generate a magical Dragon Pearl, which he swallows to enhance his power and create a tsunami.
As for his dragon form, he's a Venom-like black dragon, using oily goo to restrain Yunxiang when they fight. He also has the ability to control lightning, enhanced by the metal parts he put into his human avatar after a fight with the last Nezha. Basically, Ao Guang is a dark thunderstorm come to life, melting and appearing anywhere in the blink of an eye, in any form.
Ao Bing - The Dragon Prince
Though Ao Bing is the son of Guang, the Dragon Prince isn't as powerful as he once was, thanks to the old Nezha badly wounding him. During that fight, Nezha actually ripped Bing's spine out, which is why Guang hates him. (His father did reattach it, though.) Guang still has some of his powers, which all revolve around ice. He can shoot shards, generate ice storms and create ice bridges to slide on.
His dragon form does the same as well, but while he's durable, he's not as impervious as his dad. Sadly, his spine is also a major vulnerability; targeted when he goes up against Yunxiang. Something for manga/anime fans to enjoy is that Bing can also generate an ice avatar/titan, meaning that when he and the fire-based Yunxiang fight, it looks a lot like Naruto and Kurama fighting Sasuke and his Susanoo.
