The live-action K-drama adaptation of the webtoon A Business Proposal is now available for global fans to stream on Netflix.
The hit web novel and webtoon originally written by Haehwa has been viewed over 450 million times since its creation. The original comic is exclusively available to read on the Tapas webcomic platform in the US. The live-action adaptation of A Business Proposal premiered on Feb. 28 and will air new episodes every Monday and Tuesday, with a total of 12 60-minute episodes.
"I look forward to seeing A Business Proposal come out as a TV series following the webtoon. I hope the show will give viewers a new sense of excitement and joy,” said Haehwa, the web novelist who wrote the original story.
A Business Proposal follows a blossoming office romance between Ha-ri Shin and the brand-new CEO at the company she works for. When Ha-ri goes on a blind date in her friend's place to scare off a new suitor, she doesn't realize the man who shows up is her hot new CEO, named Tae-moo Kang. Tae-moo goes into the blind date with the plan to marry whoever shows up, so that he can get his family off his back about marriage. After taking on the name of her friend, Ha-ri continues to date and deceive Tae-moo with her false identity, while he despises lying and office romances more than anything.
The K-drama adaptation of A Business Proposal stars Sejung Kim as Ha-ri Shin and Hyoseop Ahn as Tae-moo Kang. Originally serialized as a web novel in 2017, A Business Proposal was transformed into a webtoon by Kakao Entertainment in 2018. With the series' incredibly positive reception both in Korea and internationally, the entertainment company continues to increase its popularity and relevance across different media platforms. Other Kakao Entertainment webtoons that already have existing Netflix adaptations include Itaewon Class, The Uncanny Counter, and Space Sweepers.
“Tapas is thrilled to partner with Netflix on the fan-favorite series A Business Proposal,” says Tapas CCO Michele R. Wells. “For some time, we’ve known that our content is uniquely positioned for adaptation in film and TV, and this series joins our recent release of Dr. Brain in proving the appeal of webcomics across media.”
Fans can now globally stream the first two episodes of the K-drama titled Business Proposal on Netflix with new episodes released weekly. New episodes of A Business Proposal's webcomic series can also be read exclusively on the Tapas platform every Tuesday.
