WARNING: The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Chapter 340, "The Story of How We All Became Heroes, Part 3" by Kohei Horikoshi, Caleb Cook and John Hunt, available now in English from Viz Media.
Tensions are sky high as My Hero Academia hurtles toward its final few confrontations. As the heroes gear up for war, they prepare strategies for dealing with the League of Villains as well as the mighty All For One. Engaging such a dangerous alliance in battle without a plan of attack would prove fatal, so luckily All Might -- together with Ragdoll, Detective Tsukauchi and other members of the police force -- has formed a brilliant strategy.
All For One proved at the Kamino Incident that his power is nothing to be sneezed at. Apart from going toe to toe with All Might, he was durable enough to survive several One For All punches at 100%. He was already powerful enough to strike fear into all of Japan when he was alone; now that he's teamed up with an almost fully realized Shigaraki Tomura, All For One is infinitely more dangerous.
During his battle with Star and Stripe earlier in My Hero Academia, Shigaraki showed abilities comparable to All For One at the height of his strength. Apart from each of them being juggernauts in their own right, their shared consciousness would allow for impeccably synchronized combos that would tear apart any strategy thrown at them. It's no surprise that the task force decided their first order of business should be to separate the two.
Given the duo's enormous power levels, this task is easier said than done. The heroes also must account for the other members of the League of Villains, who serve as Shigaraki's vanguard and would oppose any attempt to split him from his master. For the heroes to be successful in the separation, some form of subterfuge will have to be employed. The obvious man for such a job would be Aoyama Yuga, All For One's former mole within UA. The only problem is Aoyama still harbors a crippling fear of All For One.
Since being exposed as the UA traitor, Aoyama has steadily lost confidence in himself and doubts he'll ever be able to become a proper hero. Despite his classmates’ support, he's sunk further into depression. He tells Eraserhead he'd love nothing more than to hide in a corner and disappear, but his teacher responds that Aoyama's only path forward is to fight. It's a seemingly insensitive statement, but it was for Aoyama's own good. He's not being pushed into a decision just because the entire plan hinges on his cooperation, but because Eraserhead sees it as his responsibility to help his student navigate and push through the dark path he's currently on.
Of course, Aoyama won't be facing All For One unsupported. No matter how it may make him feel, he knows all of Class 1-A is rallied behind him and are eagerly awaiting his return to their side. His continued protection was assured by Eraserhead and he just might be entering battle with a new partner: Shinso, formerly of the UA support course. With Aoyama as cover, getting Shinso to the League of Villains' hideout should be a piece of cake. If either Shigaraki or All For One fall under the effects of his Brainwashing Quirk, All Might's goal of separating them suddenly looks much more realistic as My Hero Academia continues.
