While Season 5 of the series will soon reach its climax, My Hero Academia fans still have plenty to look forward to as anime streamer and localization company Funimation prepares the release the third and latest movie in the franchise, World Heroes Mission, which is coming to select theaters in the United States and Canada on Oct. 29. The movie is set during the middle of Season 5 and sees Deku, Bakugo and Todoroki embark on a globe-trotting adventure after the thoroughly wholesome Deku is wrongfully blamed for committing an act of mass murder. The movie features the return of many of the Japanese superheroes from the show, as well as new pro-heroes from around the world, who will join Deku in his quest to clear his name and stop the plans of Humanity, an anti-superhero cult that wants to halt the use of the series' super-power granting Quirks. The movie previously opened in Japan this past summer, where it set a new franchise record for box-office sales.
The company will also host a special panel for the series during the return of the annual New York Comic-Con, which will feature appearances from the English dub cast of the show and the movie. Funimation will host a variety of other activities at the event, including a screening of the record-breaking Demon Slayer movie Mugen Train, professional cosplay photo shoots, as well as a free party for subscribers to the company's streaming service, which will feature anime-themed drinks.
A simulcast of Season 5 is currently streaming on both Funimation and Crunchyroll. Previous seasons of My Hero Academia are also available on those services, as well as on Netflix and Hulu. The original My Hero Academia manga, which was created by Kohei Horikoshi in 2014 and is now one of the best-selling manga series of all time, is available in English in both digital and print formats from VIZ Media.
