WARNING: The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 5, Episode 16, "Long Time No See, Selkie," now streaming on Funimation, Hulu, and Crunchyroll.
Season 5, Episode 16 of My Hero Academia is an anime-only episode that features Ochaco and Froppy joining Ryuku and Selkie to take down a group of drug smugglers. After a brilliant victory in her Joint Training match, Ochaco shines once again as she manages to save the day with another impressive performance. Vowing to learn from her previous mistakes, Ochaco continues to rapidly improve her Hero skills.
When a group of smugglers transporting an illegal drug known as Trigger find themselves on Selkie's radar, he calls on Ryuku, the #10 Pro Hero, to assist. She arrives with Ochaco and Tsu in tow, as the two U.A. students are currently doing their work study under her. It initially appears Ochaco will be taking a backseat in this operation, as she stays on the ship while the others search the sea and the sky.
Once Selkie boards the ship, the illegal drugs are transferred to a seaplane that even Ryuku in her dragon form can't catch up to. Enter Ochaco, using her weightless Quirk to launch herself from a harpoon cannon in one of the best hero shots of MHA Season. 5 Showing off a new support item on her hero costume, she fires a grappling hook of sorts and succeeds in boarding the aircraft.
Even in mid-air, Ochaco reflects on her reckless actions in My Hero Academia's Joint Training exercise when she saved Deku after his Blackwhip ran wild. Determined to not make the same mistake twice, she reminds herself to stay calm and think clearly about what she's doing. Once inside, she shows impressive agility by taking down the plane's pilot before he can fully react to her entrance. Combining her Quirk and her Gunhead Martial Arts training, she renders the pilot weightless to compensate for his size and slams him to the ground, knocking him unconscious.
Though she briefly hesitates after realizing she has knocked out the only person on the plane who knows how to fly it, Ochaco's iron will wins out. Even though she's unsure if her Quirk is powerful enough to make the entire plane weightless, she refuses to give up. Once the aircraft stalls, she refuses to abandon it even after the others instructed her to do so. Like a true hero, she'll do whatever it takes, as she explains that even the well-being of the ocean's environment is worth saving by landing the plane safely.
In the end, Ochaco manages to find the strength to make the entire plane weightless so Ryuku can bring it safely to the water. Throwing up after over-exerting her Quirk, Ochaco has saved the day once again. As she continues to grow more fully into herself, becoming more confident and skilled by the day, Ochaco seems destined to be a truly great Pro Hero in My Hero Academia.
