Globally acclaimed DJ/production duo Lucas & Steve is back with an inspired, fresh take on its famed pop sound, releasing the uplifting tune “Heart First.” It’s a clear cut follow-up to this year’s festival hit “End Of Time” (alongside LAWRENT), which also featured Jordan Shaw on joyous vocal duty, this time wrapping his efforts in a superb, electronically charged pop gem. With its punchy chords, vibrant crescendo and undeniably feelgood chorus, “Heart First” resembles the perfect antidote for any winter blues, as the guys emphasize not to overthink anything too much, just follow your heart first – out now on Spinnin’ Records.
Known and loved as one of dance music’s most treasured acts, Lucas & Steve are definitely no stranger to the craft of producing a certified power pop tune. Having built a resume that covers commercial dance pop on one hand, and rousing club tunes like “Emergency,” “Zenless” (alongside Tiësto) and “Renegade Master” on the other, the Dutch duo is on a relentless search for fresh vibes, aiming to surprise its audience with every new release.
Most recently, the guys dropped the inventive, country inspired single “Do It All Again” to much acclaim, showcasing their versatility and ongoing eagerness to involve catchy, unexpected sounds in their world.
Now, after an incredible summer tour and an exciting, fully sold-out ADE, where the guys presented their acclaimed CNNCT concept again (following successful first editions in Japan and Amsterdam last year), as well as a triumphant DJ Mag Top 100 announcement which saw them climb ten places to #71, they present the follow-up to one of their biggest 2024 festival hits “End Of Time.” This record already proved itself a raving success, including a #1 spot on US dance radio, this time enlisting singer-songwriter Jordan Shaw in a similar, yet more idyllic role.
“Heart First” basically says it all. Built around the message to follow your gut feeling, Jordan Shaw sets off with a series of inspirational lyrics, sung in his characteristic vocal style, backed by Lucas & Steve’s trademark jubilant synths. The duo then pushes the feeling with rumbling drums and lively percussion, followed by an upbeat, instantly catchy chorus, bursting of Lucas & Steve’s widely praised feelgood vibes.
Effectively, the song shares two sides of the story. While the vocals and underlying emotions provide a deeper, profound message, the beats and melodic approach simply let you dance the night away, serving up a joyous tune for both radio and streaming as well as a massive singalong at the festival stage.
If any, Lucas & Steve know their way around this sweet balance between fun and empathy, making “Heart First” your go-to feelgood tune this winter season.
