Universal Pictures has released five character posters for Jurassic World Dominion that unite two generations of heroes.
The first poster shows a disheveled Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) in the jungle with a Dilophosaurus about to strike her from behind. The next has the legendary Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) with a torch in hand, standing in a pose similar to his T-Rex encounter from 1993's Jurassic Park. The third features Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) in action on his motorcycle, riding through ruins alongside two Velociraptors just like the iconic scene from 2015's Jurassic World. Next is a seasoned Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) sporting his leather jacket from Jurassic Park inside a computer control center, which appears to be monitoring dinosaur activity in the wild. The final poster released features Dr. Elle Sattler (Laura Dern) outside a barn removing her sunglasses around a huge swarm of distant flying creatures. She's also wearing identical attire to her first appearance in Jurassic Park.
The sixth entry in the Jurassic franchise, Jurassic World Dominion will be the last installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, according to Chris Pratt in a recent interview. "I really do think it's the end," said Pratt. "You've got the legacy cast back — Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum plus the cast of Jurassic World all... converging in a way that is very much a finale." To ensure that the legacy characters of Jurassic Park serve an important role in the story, director Colin Trevorrow made sure that they had as much screen time as the younger cast.
The original Jurassic Park was a groundbreaking epic from Steven Spielberg that amassed over $1 billion worldwide in 1993 and forever changed cinema with its extensive use of CGI. Spielberg returned to the director's chair for 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which had a mixed reception but made over $670 million worldwide. Captain America: The First Avenger director, Joe Johnston, took over the reins in 2001's Jurassic Park III, which made less than half of the previous entry.
The franchise was dormant for a decade until Trevorrow re-energized it with 2015's Jurassic World, which breathed new life into the series and grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The last film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was released in 2018 and directed by J.A. Bayona, with Trevorrow co-writing the script with Derek Connolly.
Jurassic World Dominion takes place several years after Fallen Kingdom, with dinosaurs freely roaming the planet. Now the characters of Grady and Dearing, as well as the legacy characters of Dr. Grant, Dr. Malcolm and Dr. Sattler find themselves learning how to survive in the new world while confronting the mistakes made by InGen and Masrani Global Corporation.
Jurassic World Dominion hits theaters on June 10.
