Cursed energy is the power that serves as the backbone of Jujutsu Kaisen's universe and it doesn't leave much room for luck. As the culmination of humanity's negative emotions, cursed energy provides sorcerers with a ready supply of supernatural power that helps them make their own luck.
Satoru Gojo, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki each take advantage of their Cursed Techniques and cursed energy to fight for their own right to exist. But regardless of their skill, they've each been at the heart of a conflict that was resolved by luck rather than skill.
10 The Zenin Family Left Maki On Her Own
Maki Zenin is infamous for being an exceptionally powerful warrior despite having zero cursed energy. She impressively continues to leave her mark in Jujutsu Kaisen long after Kenjaku flipped the world upside down.
Maki's enduring survival is mostly the result of her own strength. As readers continue to turn the page on Maki's story, she becomes more and more powerful. But despite her strength, without the luck that brought power into the hands of Satoru Gojo, Maki would have been killed by her own family long before entering the jujutsu world as a cursed weapon expert.
9 Megumi Discovered His Domain Just In Time To Save His Life
Megumi's foray under Yasohachi Bridge is full of lucky encounters and close calls. First and foremost, Megumi would have been killed if Choso and Eso had appeared before Yuji and Nobara caught up with Megumi.
After saving Megumi from the combined might of two special grade curses, Nobara and Yuji find him unconscious under a bridge that housed a special grade finger-bearing cursed spirit. Luckily, Megumi managed to make it out of his fight alive because he managed to properly execute Domain Expansion. The fact that he pulled it off in such a stressful situation is a huge stroke of luck.
8 Nobara's Cursed Technique Counters Every Opponent She Faces
Nobara is praised for being one of the best female characters in modern anime for good reason. Since her debut, Nobara has held onto her definition of beauty and strength without compromising anything. While Nobara's strength is certainly impressive, there's a good amount of luck in her matchups that many fans have recognized.
During her battle with Eso and Kechizu, Nobara is saved by the fact that her Cursed Technique is the perfect counter to the Decay Technique. Nobara's quick thinking played a part, but it's still lucky considering the variety of cursed techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen.
7 Megumi's Mistake Led Him To Yuji
During the first episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji is introduced as the Tiger of West Junior High and flaunted in front of fans as a physical beast. In the same episode, Megumi is introduced as a stoic, hardworking student at Tokyo Jujutsu High.
While seemed inevitable for Megumi and Yuji to eventually cross paths, it's actually pretty lucky that they did. Only a novice sorcerer would have assumed that the case holding Sukuna's finger was actually a Special Grade Cursed item. This is one of Megumi's few mistakes, making it quite lucky that he and Yuji ever crossed paths.
6 Yuji's Body Is Perfectly Suited To Contain Sukuna
Without a proper explanation as to why Yuji Itadori is suitable as a vessel for Ryomen Sukuna, fans can only see it as pure coincidence. Considering the fact that Yuji and Megumi were in dire straits when Yuji first inherited Sukuna's strength, "luck" is an appropriate descriptor for his ability to contain Sukuna.
Both Yuji and Megumi were extremely lucky that Yuji's body was able to contain Sukuna's power. If Yuji had failed to contain Sukuna's strength, the King of Curses would have unleashed his wrath on thousands of innocent people.
5 Gojo's Incompetence Allowed Kenjaku's Success
Kenjaku has been playing games behind the scenes of Jujutsu Kaisen for as long as fans have been interested in Gege Akutami's hit anime series. The way Kenjaku's brilliance has allowed him to rise up as the perfect foil to Satoru Gojo makes it hard to see any of his achievements as luck. Despite this, the number of times Kenjaku succeeded as a consequence of Gojo's immaturity should be considered lucky. This is especially true after fans find out how many times Kenjaku was foiled in the past by older members of the Gojo family who once carried Satoru's techniques.
4 Gojo Appeared Just In Time To Save Yuji & Megumi
Gojo is undoubtedly the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen. In order for the plot to progress in the manga, Gege Akutami had to write Gojo out of the story to make things more challenging for Yuji and Megumi. All hell breaks loose the moment Gojo disappears, and Sukuna hasn't been seen since the Shibuya Incident arc.
Fans should consider themselves lucky that Gojo could stand against the might of Sukuna in the second episode of the anime. If he hadn't, Kenjaku could have set his plan in motion while Yuji was learning how to recognize residual cursed energy.
3 Todo & Yuji Coincidentally Have The Same Taste In Women
Aoi Todo's obsession with his peers' taste in women is problematic. This is made abundantly clear when he attacks Megumi due to his "boring" taste in women. Luckily, Yuji didn't have this problem, because his taste in women is exactly the same as Todo's. Yuji fans should consider themselves very lucky that Todo didn't consider Yuji's opinion boring. The muscle-headed sorcerer may be problematic, but he was more than capable of killing Yuji during the Exchange Event.
2 Gojo Stands Up For Yuji In Front Of The Higher Ups
Satoru Gojo's Cursed Techniques allow him to stand at the top of the Jujutsu Kaisen power scale without any competition rising up to test him. Gojo's strength has allowed him to flexibly teach some of the most controversial young sorcerers of his time.
Yuji is perhaps the luckiest of Satoru's students. Considering Yuji's role as a vessel, the higher-ups at the top of the jujutsu world are well justified for wanting to take Yuji's life. Luckily, fans have Gojo to stand up for Yuji whenever any higher-ups threaten Yuji's life.
1 Geto Didn't Master Cursed Spirit Manipulation Before Facing Yuta
Suguru Geto is an underappreciated sorcerer among the majority of Jujutsu Kaisen fans. The inheritor of the Cursed Spirit Manipulation Cursed Technique had the potential to be the most powerful sorcerer of his time. Luckily, before Geto could master his Cursed Technique, Yuta and Gojo ended his reign of terror during the Night Parade of 100 Demons. If Geto had learned the true extent of his power before fighting Yuta, he would have captured Rika and waged a war against humanity well before Yuji ever ate Sukuna's finger.
