I’ve Been Killing Slimes: Azusa Shrinks Into a Child & Goes on a Devilish Quest

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Episode 11 of I've Been killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Azusa Aizawa, the benevolent witch of the highlands, is totally subverting the traditional isekai trend of powerful heroes and taking it easy in her new world. But things take a shocking turn when she is shrunk into a little kid thanks to a gnome-maker mushroom. Azusa didn't mean to be this young and carefree.

Halkara, the elf who makes the Nutri-Spirit drink, was so sure that her mushroom lunch would be a big hit with all her friends. Now a rather annoyed Azusa demands to be turned back to normal, and Halkara doesn't have the solution. So, it's time to call upon some demonic aid.

Azusa Embarks On A Legendary Quest To The World Tree

Once Beelzebub is finally done gushing over child-Azusa, it becomes clear that the solution to this mushroom problem is to visit the demon capital city and consult the demon king, who by now views Azusa as a beloved big sister. The sisters Fatla and Vania fly Azusa, Shalsha and Falfa to the king's court. The demon king is delighted to see her "big sister"again, even if that she now looks rather youthful, and points her in the right direction. Azusa's destination is the massive world tree, which is so vast it houses 108 dungeon-like levels within its trunk. This sounds like an adventure of epic proportions, but things get weird when Azusa, Fatla and Vania visit the tree's first floor.

The entire thing is actually a tourist attraction, complete with gift shops, food stalls and elevators. In fact, most of the animals on the various floors, such as wolves, are tame and are more akin to petting zoo animals. Azusa isn't in the mood for games, though -- she wants to reach floor 108 pronto, and she'll pony up the cash to ride the elevators whenever possible. Vania and Fatla, being demon realm natives, are having much more fun, especially since they remember visiting this place during their school days. Bit by bit, Azusa realizes she's having fun too, and bonding with the leviathan sisters. This place isn't so bad, and the views are outstanding. It's finally time for that cure.

What The Demon King Forgot To Mention

Azusa finally throws open the doors to the World Tree's final, 108th floor and finds herself in a well-stocked apothecary. She explains her problem to the elf lady working there, who hands over the cure: a small bottle of black, spherical pills. These look awfully familiar, and sure enough, Eno the friendly cave witch shows up with a whole crate of them. Azusa can hardly believe it -- she could have visited her friend Eno this whole time and spared a three-day trip up the World Tree. Worse yet, Eno mentions how a certain wyvern regularly flies from the ground to the 108th floor to deliver stock for the apothecary. Azusa could have ridden that drake, and worst of all, the demon king could have mentioned this helpful wyvern, but didn't.

When they return to the demon king's court, Azusa takes the pill and assumes her normal form. She then invites the demon king and some friends into the bath with her, and as the king's big sister, gently but firmly scolds her for taking this practical joke too far. The demon king understands and apologizes, and now the two are closer than ever. All's well that ends well in I've Been Killing Slimes.
