WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Season 1 of Super Crooks, now streaming on Netflix.
Netflix's Super Crooks adapts the Image Comics title from Mark Millar and Leinil Francis Yu, with the 13 episodes of Season 1 diving into Johnny Bolt's quest to break the Bastard's empire in Japan. The anime ends on a successful note for him and his ragtag band of thieves - however, while they do become millionaires in a happy ending, there are a couple of angles set up for a second season, as well as a potential prequel.
The Bastard Will Want Revenge on Johnny's Crew
Johnny's crew robbed The Bastard on his Japanese island, using a psychic construct Kasey created so they could escape with a space-case, akin to the genjutsu Itachi uses in Naruto. This contained hundreds of millions of dollars worth of treasure, but Johnny also framed the Salamander as the man who hired them. It saw the Bastard kill Salamander and retake the villainous Network back.
Thus, Season 2 of Super Crooks can focus on The Bastard sending new super-powered villains on the hunt once he finds out he was duped twice. He'd definitely want revenge as word has spread about his failures. Given his ego and resources, The Bastard would be relentless in trying to get thugs to bring the thieves in so he can use his own powers of blowing their heads up with a thought. Kasey would be top priority, making it personal for Johnny as they got engaged.
The Praetorian Could Return Stronger in Super Crooks Season 2
The Praetorian has magical cards that grants him hundreds of powers in Super Crooks, including teleportation, flame-throwing, water-bending, super-speed and such, making him a mix of Shazam and Superman. However, the Gladiator was blackmailed by Johnny into helping them -- and he ended up beating Praetorian into a coma.
Season 2 can now focus on Praetorian going after Gladiator and teaching him a lesson. Sure, he'd want Johnny's team dead too, but Gladiator would be atop the list as both fought crime together until Praetorian was outed as a corrupt hero. Seeing as Gladiator is now out as a gay hero, his husband, allies, and even work colleagues from Jupiter's Legacy's Union of Justice could become targets for Praetorian, who knows he needs to be stronger.
A Super Crooks Prequel Can Detail The Syndicate
Flashbacks told by the Heat/Carmine confirmed he, The Bastard/Matts and Count Orlok from Romania formed a trio called the Syndicate. They ended up in Chicago decades ago, running heists and making super-villains popular, until Matts grew hungry for power and abandoned the others. Thus, a Super Crooks prequel can dissect how the heat-throwing Carmine struggled afterward, as well as the Count.
A prequel would allow fans to see how Matts developed his psychic powers, how Orlok got his mystical helmet a la Doctor Fate, and how Carmine got his flame guns. Seeing as Super Crooks is all about a family uniting, this dynamic of one breaking up would balance the anime and let these older heads flex their powers some more. Orlok, for example, had the powers of a dark god, so it'd be nice to see him cutting loose, bickering with Matts and how the civil war ensued.
