Ridley Scott's Raised by Wolves will not be returning for a third season.
As reported by TV Line, the sci-fi series has been canceled by HBO Max after only two seasons. "While we are not proceeding with a third season of Raised by Wolves, we are beyond grateful to the stellar cast and crew," HBO Max said in a statement and went on to thank "creators Aaron Guzikowski, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, and the entire team at Scott Free Productions, for their beautiful artistry and unique ability to immerse fans into the world of Kepler-22b."
Abubakar Salim, who played Father on the series, addressed the cancelation in a lengthy statement shared on Twitter, wherein he asked fans to rally for the third season of Raised by Wolves somewhere other than HBO Max. "It's not surprising, especially after the news of the mergers and what is happening at Warner [Bros. Discovery, which owns HBO Max], that a lot of shows are not having their stories finished," Salim wrote. "And unfortunately, one of those shows is Raised by Wolves." He continued, "Nothing has been publicly shared yet. And there is a reason for that. An important one. One which I’m here to share with you now. There is hope."
According to Salim, there is a "fully fleshed out and planned storyline" for the series to continue, as well as "a Goliath of a production team, behind us, incredible reception from critics and reviewers alike" and a strong fanbase that could lead the series to "be finished at a new home."
Created by Aaron Guzikowski, Raised by Wolves premiered on HBO Max on Sept. 3, 2020, with its first two episodes directed by Scott (Alien) who also served as an executive producer. Shortly after its debut, the sci-fi drama series was renewed for a second season, which premiered in February 2022. Raised by Wolves followed two androids named Father and Mother who had been tasked with raising two human children on the planet Kepler-22b following the destruction of Earth. However, another colony of humans threatens to unravel due to religious differences and the androids must grapple with and attempt to control the beliefs of humans.
Along with Salim, Raised by Wolves starred Amanda Collin, Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, Jordan Loughran, Matias Varela, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong and Travis Fimmel.
The first two seasons of Raise by Wolves are available on HBO Max.
