The upcoming new OVA for otome game Hakuoki has released a new trailer and visual, as well as info on the cast, staff, and theme songs!
In addition to protagonist Chizuru and her love interests, the trailer and visual feature an original character named Hyogo Sakai, who will be voiced by Shota Aoi.
Aoi is joined by Houko Kuwashima as Chizuru Yukimura, Shinichiro Miki as Toshizo Hijikata, Showtaro Morikubo as Soji Okita, Kousuke Toriumi as Hajime Saito, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Heisuke Todo, Koji Yusa as Sanosuke Harada, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Chikage Kazama.
Several staff members from the game's first TV anime adaptation will return, including Osamu Yamasaki as director, Kow Otani for music, and Atsuko Nakajima for character design.
The opening theme is “Setsuna no Kodo” by Aika Yoshioka. The ending theme song is “Kenran -I’ll never forget you-“ by Maon Kurosaki.
Created by Idea Factory, Hakuoki follows Chizuru Yukimura, a young woman who is taken in by the Shinsengumi after they learn that her father is a doctor who developed the Water of Life - an elixir that turns those who drink it into demon-like beings known as Rasetsu.
Released in three parts, the OVA series will see an attempt to assassinate the shogun on his visit to Kyoto, as well as the escape of some Rasetsu with the help of someone who looks like Chizuru.
Hakuoki's new OVA will be available on DVD and Blu-ray, with Part 1 coming on December 24, 2021, Part 2 on January 28, 2022, and Part 3 on February 25, 2022.
