As part of several announcements made today for the game, Gotham Knights developers revealed the game will receive a costly collectors edition.
Along with other reveals today, Warner Bros. Games Montréal announced Gotham Knights is available now for pre-order on PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam and Epic Games Store. As the game will no longer launch on previous-gen consoles, players can only purchase Gotham Knights for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game comes in three editions: Standard, which runs $69.99 retail, Deluxe for $89.99 and finally the Collector's Edition, priced at an extraordinary $299.99.
While Standard will only feature the base game, Deluxe comes with the addition of a Visionary Pack DLC that includes exclusive gear, cosmetics, Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series and other goodies that have yet to be revealed. The Collector's Edition will have the Deluxe version of the game but with an included augmented reality collectible pin, a 16-page media book, an exclusive Gotham City map, a four-character stature diorama and more as yet unannounced collector's items. Along with whichever edition of the game players choose, Gotham Knights pre-orders will also receive the 233 Kustom Batcycle Skin at launch, based on the iconic vehicle's first appearance in DC’s Detective Comics #233.
Other reveals today include the aforementioned decision by Warner Bros. Games Montréal to restrict Gotham Knights to current-gen consoles only, noting it made the decision "to provide players with the best possible gameplay experience." The change of plans for the launch was revealed during a gameplay trailer, showcasing the individual playstyles of Nightwing and Red Hood. Players got a chance to see an extended look at the duo as they dispatched several thugs, followed by a reveal that the game includes not only a two-player co-op mode but can be played with up to four players. Each will take on the role of one of the four Batman Family crime fighters -- Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl and Robin.
Gotham Knights is a fully open-world co-op online action-adventure that takes place after Batman's death. With the Dark Knight's demise, it is up to the Bat-Family to clear Gotham's streets of a new criminal underworld. Creative director Patrick Redding explained there would be "no level-gating" from the start and that players could expect a range of difficulty between enemy encounters as they search the Gotham City streets for crime.
Initially planned for a 2021 release, Gotham Knights is set to release on October 25, 2022, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
