WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of Godzilla Singular Point, now streaming on Netflix.
Godzilla Singular Point certainly subverts the old Toho lore, presenting the giant lizard and its enemies in a whole new light. It's not just about kaiju rising from the sea or falling from the sky, though. They appear to be dropping in from various dimensions with Earth's elemental conditions and a unique red dust that bends space-time -- seemingly crucial in what these beasts can do and how they can be killed. That said, let's rank all the kaiju based on their lethality.
7) Anguirus
Anguirus was Godzilla's loyal sidekick from Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and in this case it's initially a docile ankylosaurus-like kaiju. Granted, its spikes give it a menacing look, but unless it's provoked by hunters or Yun Arikawa's team, it just wants to be left alone in the Japanese forest. Nonetheless, Anguirus charges people when spooked, with its ability to peer seconds into the future proving beneficial. It makes it hard to shoot the beast -- or counter as it can deflect projectiles -- but luckily Jet Jaguar does impale it close up.
6) Rodan
Young Rodans come off like pterodactyls who behave like baby birds, flying around and scouring for food. However, when they get older and bigger, they become more aggressive as seen when one fights Jet Jaguar. If a bus wasn't rammed into it, it would have won as Rodan's claws, super-strong beak and wind gusts generated by its wings make it difficult to get close to. When they're in flocks, they're a major threat as seen when they spread across the world in Singular Point, picking humans off with their swift speed, giant beaks and rabid appetites.
5) Manda
Godzilla Singular Point's Mandas are blue sea serpents, with a giant one spotted in an aquatic chase with Godzilla. Its design honors Toho's lore where they're sea dragons protecting undersea kingdoms. Manda is most noted for Destroy All Monsters where the resident of Monster Island takes on King Ghidorah. It swims at giant speeds and is able to beat up a young Godzilla, wrapping around the lizard and trying to drown it. Its strength and intuition may have won had Godzilla not been evolving, which allows the lizard to kill it by dragging it onto land.
4) Kumonga
In previous Toho stories, Kumonga is a gigantic, black spider that battled Godzilla in the likes of Son of Godzilla before turning face in Destroy All Monsters. Godzilla Singular Point, though, alters things by turning Kumonga into an army of small, green arachnids that move around, consuming man and machine and swarming in rapid speeds. With their claws, it's quite difficult to fight back as well, as they use their pincers to crush everything around them, coming off like armored tanks.
3) Hedorah
Hedorah is a sludge-monster alien that feasts on pollution, growing stronger as seen in Godzilla vs. Hedorah and Godzilla: Final Wars. Come Godzilla Singular Point, the bright blue creature has multiple tentacles, as it keeps shifting its size. It grows from the Kumongas, multiplying and piloting their bodies as the sludge leaks around. It provides major trouble for Jet Jaguar because when one dies, another rises like a hydra to consume and destroy.
2) Salunga
Salunga's changed from a dinosaur-like creature to a spin on Gabara from All Monsters Attack. It's a giant monkey-esque creature, climbing out a hole connected to the Singular Point portal. Its behavior and how it scales out, smashing things, ironically feels like King Kong. It goes on a rampage when it gets out, leaping all over the place and crushing the military as its skin is bomb-proof.
1) Godzilla
Akin to Shin Godzilla, Singular Point's Godzilla has more than one form -- four, in fact. It's initially seen as a cross between a fish and an eel, only to destroy Manda and then evolve on land into the legendary mythical destroyer. Prophecies and historical codexes in the series predict it'll transform into the giant lizard. As this happens, its atomic breath razes Tokyo, burns Rodan flocks and then almost incinerates Jet Jaguar. It wants to be king, and with its tusks it can also brawl close range, giving it a more dynamic feel and making it the most lethal kaiju of all.
