Hit comedy franchise Gintama has unveiled its 20th anniversary website plus a visual and info on a live music event!
The franchise is celebrating its "anniversary year" from 2023, the 20th anniversary of the original manga, until 2026, the 20th anniversary of the TV anime.
As part of the festivities, a live music event focusing on the anime's incidental music will be held on February 11, 2024, at Tokyo's Zepp DiverCity. Titled "Gintama Sound Ultra Soul! '24," it was originally planned for 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally a comedy manga by Hideaki Sorachi, the Gintama franchise includes a TV anime series spanning over 300 episodes, anime movies and live-action movies.
Set in an alternate Edo period where aliens have invaded the earth, the story follows the adventures of samurai Gintoki and his friends Shinpachi and Kagura as they struggle to pay the rent.
