To bring anime news to fans across the globe, Funimation is hosting a live-stream event this summer, previewing the newest in anime shows, movies, merchandise and more.
Funimation announced its Summer Season Preview Fan Event in a press release. Colin Decker, CEO of Funimation Global Group, said "We're celebrating this anime seasonal lineup with a preview event to connect and serve more fans around the world." Some of the festivities include surprise guests, first looks, never-before-seen material and a surprise announcement.
The free event, occurring in June, will be live-streamed for US and Canadian fans and recorded for fans in other countries. Decker said "Our virtual events enable everyone to belong to the global anime community, and we are proud to continue expanding the experience to wherever fans want us to be." Lauren Moore, Funimation's Host and Content Production Manager, will be hosting the summer preview.
The live stream summer event will also allow fans the chance to win prizes, as Xbox partnered with Funimation for the festivities. In April, Funimation hosted a similar sneak peek of its spring lineup.
Founded by Gen Fukunaga, Funimation is known for distributing East Asian productions across the globe. Some of the company's major titles include Dragon Ball, Attack on Titan, Fruits Basket and My Hero Academia. Funimation recently merged with Manga Entertainment UK, allowing the company to continue expanding its global reach.
