Sonny Boy is the new original anime from studio Madhouse and Shingo Natsume, the director of the One-Punch Man anime series. The series' staff also includes Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe, who will be acting as an advisor on the show's soundtrack. The series tells the story of a group of junior high school students who have to learn how to survive in a bizarre alternate dimension after their school is suddenly teleported there without explanation. Sonny Boy will premiere on Japanese TV on July 15.
Scarlet Nexus is the anime adaptation of Bandai Namco's action-RPG of the same name. The series takes place in a future where humans have developed new technology that grants users psychic powers, which they must use to battle the Others, a race of mindless mutants that feed on people. The Scarlet Nexus anime will debut in Japan on July 1. The game is set to be released on June 25 for the PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Both series have been licensed for release outside of Asia by Funimation. The company has not announced any premiere dates for either show outside of this limited-time preview.
