Funimation has confirmed that Muteking the Dancing Hero will premiere on its streaming service as part of its upcoming fall anime season.
The reboot of the classic comedy series Muteking, The Dashing Hero will be one of several new anime to debut on Funimation this fall, including Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside, Selection Project, Mieruko-chan, Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut and The Vampire Dies in No Time.
The original Muteking anime ran from Sept. 7, 1980 to Sept. 27, 1981. The series received both English and Italaian dubs and went on to achieve international recognition. The goal of the reboot is to introduce a new generation to the classic hero who fights monsters with the power of dance.
Tatsunoko Production, the studio behind Muteking, The Dashing Hero, is teaming up with Tezuka Production (How Not to Summon a Demon Lord) to produce Muteking the Dancing Hero. Yuuzou Satou (Psycho-Pass 2, Sket Dance) serves as the new series' director director and Takamitsu Shimazaki (B-Daman CrossFire) and Takeshi Masuka (Outbreak Company) composed the music. The voice cast includes Kentarou Mashiro (Micchiri Wanko! Animation) as Muteki, Takuya Eguchi (Ranking of Kings, Baki) as DJ, Satoshi Hino (Jujutsu Kaisen, Vinland Saga) as Seo and Rie Takahashi (Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) as Aida-san.
Muteking the Dancing Hero will premiere on Oct. 3.
