A new poster has been revealed for Fullmetal Alchemist's next pair of live-action films, Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter - The Avenger Scar and Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter - The Last Transmutation.
The image, posted to the films' official Twitter, features Ed clutching at his shoulder as his automail arm lies in pieces on the ground while being bombarded by an onslaught of rain. Al is also depicted, lying collapsed in the foreground, his suit of armor partially destroyed by the foe tormenting the Elric brothers. The villainous Ishvalan Scar is shown at the top of the poster, the Transmutation Array tattooed on his right arm visible as he gears up to use his famous Alchemy.

The release of the new poster comes over four years after the first Fullmetal Alchemist live-action film premiered in 2017. Based on the manga by Hiromu Arakawa, Fullmetal Alchemist centers around Edward "Ed" Elric and his brother Al in a world where people can master Alchemy, the versatile science of understanding, deconstructing and reconstructing matter at the molecular level. The Elric brothers attempt the forbidden art of human transmutation to try bringing their mother back from the dead. Ed loses an arm and a leg to anchor his younger brother's soul to a suit of armor after his body becomes collateral for their attempt, and the pair begin a journey to recover Al's body as they try to find the mysterious Philosopher's Stone.
Fullmetal Alchemist has become one of the most best-selling manga series of all time due to its compelling characters, intricate worldbuilding, stunning action scenes and gripping plot. It has received two anime adaptations to date, with the second of the two following the source material more faithfully than its predecessor, which diverges heavily from the manga series.
A live-action film adaptation simply titled Fullmetal Alchemist was also released on Nov. 19, 2017. Covering the first four volumes of the manga series, the film starred Ryosuke Hamada as Ed, Tsubasa Honda as spunky mechanic Winry Rockbell and Dean Fujioka as the Flame Alchemist, Roy Mustang. Despite it receiving mixed reviews, a sequel film was confirmed to be in development in July 2017, and it was announced in March 2022 that there would actually be two sequels released. Hamada, Honda and Fujioka will reprise their roles in these upcoming films, alongside a few new cast members such as Mackenyu Arata as Scar and Seiyo Uchino as Van Hohenheim, the Elric brothers' mysterious father.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter - The Avenger Scar and Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter - The Last Transmutation are set to be released on May 20 and June 24, respectively.
