First Look at Summer Time Rendering Anime Revealed

The first image from the Summer Time Rendering anime has been released, and true to the series' premise, many of the details surrounding the show remain shrouded in mystery.

The picture was revealed on the official Summer Time Rendering Twitter account along with a 2022 premiere date. Unlike most other new anime announcements, no other details about the show, including its cast and crew, or even what animation studio is producing it, were revealed. Summer Time Rendering was created by author Yasuki Tanaka, and the original manga was serialized on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ digital manga platform from October 2017 to February 2021. While the series never attracted the wider audience of other Shonen Jump+ hits like Spy X Family, it has built up a dedicated following and garnered a positive critical reception due to its tense action and atmosphere. My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi, who worked as Tanaka's assistant earlier in their career, has praised the series.

Summer Time Rendering tells the story of Shinpei Ajiro, a boy whose parents died when he was very young and was subsequently raised by two sisters, Mio and Ushio. Ajiro, now a young adult, returns to his seaside hometown after learning that Ushio has drowned during a tragic accident. As Ajiro mourns her death, he starts to find evidence that what happened to Ushio wasn't an accident. Dedicated to protecting the remaining sister Mio while solving the mystery of Ushio's death, Ajiro discovers that there are many horrors hidden beneath the quiet town's peaceful facade.

In addition to the new anime series, a live-action adaptation of Summer Time Rendering has also been announced. The original manga is available to read online in English on Shueisha's Manga Plus website.
