New images from My Hero Academia Season 5 tease one of Tomura Shigaraki's upcoming fights.

SPOILERS FOR MY HERO ACADEMIA SEASON 5 FOLLOW:

The new images were posted online by Twitter user @Atsushi101X and showoff more of the battle between Shigaraki and the leader of the Meta Liberation Army, Re-Destro, who is clad in his power enhancing Claustro armor. As manga fans are already aware, the fight between the two villains leads to a powerful evolution for Shigaraki, both in terms of his fighting ability and his status within the ranks of the series' villains.

The new images come from episode 24, which continues the fight that began in the previous two episodes, which also featured a lengthy flashback that explored the history of Shigaraki's family and the tragic and brutal origins of the villain's twisted way of thinking.

My Hero Academia is currently airing its fifth season, which began in May. This season has seen the show face several controversies, from graphic scenes being censored to an animator removing their name from the credits, but the recent success of the World Heroes' Mission movie proved the franchise's on-going popularity. World Heroes' Mission is the third MHA movie and tells the story of Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki going on an international run from the law after Deku is framed for a horrible crime. The globe-trotting adventure is the most successful movie in the franchise so far, having outperformed the series' prior two movies in terms of revenue at the Japanese box office, despite the country's current state of emergency due to a renewed surge in COVID-19 cases.

Funimation, the streaming company that's currently airing simulcasts of the My Hero Academia anime, will also bring World Heroes' Mission to theaters in the United States and Canada on Oct. 29. The company will also host a panel for the series at the upcoming New York Comic-Con, which will feature appearances from the English voice cast of the movie. Funimation will host a screening of the Demon Slayer movie Mugen Train, as well as a free party for subscribers to its streaming service, which will feature anime-themed drinks and activities.

In addition to Funimation, the simulcast of the current season of the series is also available on Crunchyroll. Earlier seasons of the anime can also be streamed from those services, as well as through Hulu and Netflix. The original My Hero Academia manga by Kohei Horikoshi is localized and distributed by VIZ Media outside of Japan.
