Dragon Ball Super: The Heeters Steal Volume 17’s Cover

The cover for Dragon Ball Super Vol. 17 puts the focus on the Heeters, who have been one of the major antagonists of "Granolah the Survivor Saga."

The image comes from @WSJ_manga on Twitter. While the account does not officially represent Weekly Shōnen Jump, it generally posts correct and accurate information about the popular magazine. The cover, which you can see below, showcases the main members of the Heeters gang: Macki, Gas, Elec and Oil. Beneath them, Granolah fights against Vegeta and Goku on Planet Cereal.

Dragon Ball Super Vol. 17 will encompass chapters 73 through 76 of the manga. As such, the volume primarily concerns itself with the fight between Vegeta, Goku and Granolah. In the chapters leading up to these issues, Granolah -- who is the last Cerealian due to one of Frieza's massacres -- uses Planet Cereal's Dragon Balls to become the strongest fighter in the universe. Granolah plans to use his powers to get revenge on Frieza. However, he soon learns that there are two remaining Saiyans, and Granolah swears revenge on them, as the proud warrior people were one of Frieza's instruments of destruction.

While Granolah does fight Goku and Vegeta, the Heeters are definitely major antagonists in Dragon Ball Super's current arc. The group is responsible for tricking Goku and Vegeta into heading to Planet Cereal to fight Granolah. The Heeters' main motivation is to seize power and become a dominant force in the universe, and they plan to achieve that goal by using Planet Cereal's Dragon Balls.

The Dragon Ball Super manga began releasing just prior to the release of the anime of the same name. While the anime stopped airing in 2018, the manga has continued on, introducing new bad guys for the Z-Fighters to contend with. A new Dragon Ball Super film, titled Super Hero, is set for release in 2022.

Currently, Dragon Ball Super Vol. 17 is slated to release on Dec. 3 in Japan, where it will be published by Shueisha. At this time, it's not totally clear when the English language version of Vol. 17 will drop. Currently, Viz Media is aiming to publish its translation of Dragon Ball Super Vol. 15 on Jan. 4, 2022. Neither Vol. 16 nor Vol. 17 have release dates in English at this time, and it's possible the global supply chain issue may slow down production.

New chapters of Dragon Ball Super in English release every month through Viz Media. Chapter 79 of Dragon Ball Super is currently expected on Dec. 20.
