The Demon Slayer Corps' most powerful leaders will take the skies in a new promotion.
As reported by Comic Natalie, All Nippon Airways (ANA) revealed the design for the second Demon Slayer-themed plane to join the company's fleet. The new plane will be decorated with art depicting all nine of the Hashira, the Demon Slayer Corps' strongest warriors, on both of sides of the plane. In addition to its exterior livery, the inside of the plane will also feature decorations based on the popular anime and manga series, cabin attendants in Demon Slayer aprons, and a special in-flight meal that recreates the Flame Hashira Kyujuro Rengoku's bento lunch from the 2020 Mugen Train movie. Passengers will also be able to purchase acrylic stands of the characters dressed in ANA uniforms. Fans in Japan can book a flight on the plane starting on March 25.
The Hashira plane is the second ANA airliner to get the Demon Slayer makeover: the first plane in the promotion took its first passengers on Jan. 31 and featured a paint job that highlighted the series' main characters, Tanjiro, his beloved younger sister Nezuko, as well as fellow rookie swordsmen, Zenitsu and Inosuke.
In the anime and manga series, "Hashira" is a rank given to the nine most capable warriors and leaders in the Demon Slayer Corps. They are given a title that matches their chosen Breathing Style, hence the fire-wielding Rengoku being named the Flame Hashira. The nine Hashira have become some of the most popular characters in the series, and each play a key role throughout the series: the stoic Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka, is the one who initially rescues Tanjiro at the start of the series and sets the young man on the path of becoming a demon slayer himself, while the Flame and Sound Hashira are both instrumental to the events of the Mugen Train and Entertainment District arcs.
The anime recently concluded its second season, but the series' producers have already announced that the anime will continue with an adaptation of the Swordsmith Village arc, which will focus on Tanjiro traveling to the hometown of the Demon Slayer Corps' blacksmiths in order to repair his damaged Nichirin katana. The continuation of the show was revealed alongside new art of the uncaring Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, and the bubbly Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji.
Koyoharu Gotouge's complete Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba manga is now available in English from VIZ Media. The first season of the anime is available on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll and Funimation, while the now fully completed second season is available from the latter two services.
