Season 2 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba's "Entertainment District" arc has reached its conclusion. Fans know full-well that this story comes out swinging with emotional blow after blow, but the latest arc ended on a notably more hopeful note than it's predecessor, Mugen Train.
The battle against Daki and Gyutaro, the combined Upper Moon Six, may have been arduous and costly for everyone involved, but the demon slayers' triumph still leaves quite a bit for them -- and fans -- to celebrate.
Similarly to how Mugen Train shed light on Kyojuro's family and the legacy of the Flame Hashira, Demon Slayer's "Entertainment District" arc introduced Tengen Uzui's backstory and lead-up to becoming a Hashira. At the end of the battle against the Upper Moon Six, Tengen ultimately decides to retire from his position as Sound Hashira, leaving the Corps altogether.
While the Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro derides Tengen for this decision, it's an understandable choice given all he's endured up to that point. Battle aside, Season 2 does more than hint at how traumatic his life as a shinobi has been. After suffering so much loss -- and nearly losing it all again -- being able to retire with his wives is the peaceful future he's dreamt of and more than deserves.
Demon Slayer Season 2 also saw the Demon Slayer Corps successfully kill one of the Upper Moons of the Twelve Kizuki, a feat that had apparently never been achieved before. Mugen Train's heart-wrenching end isn't mirrored in the "Entertainment District" arc, though Tengen, Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu aren't spared from a long road to recovery. The defeat of an Upper Moon comes as quite a surprise to not just Muzan Kibutsuji but also Akaza, who is summoned to Muzan's castle. Akaza's appearances following Mugen Train have been sparse, but this development likely means redemption for Kyojuro's defeat may be fast approaching.
In spite of the chaos of battle, Tanjiro's mission to return Nezuko to a human remains. With all their combined efforts proving successful in taking down Upper Moon Six, Tanjiro finally has a new blood sample to send to Tamayo and Yushiro. Thus far, there hasn't been any mention of how successful Tamayo's research into Muzan's blood has been, but with Nezuko's continued determination to maintain her humanity and protect others, there's little doubt that she'll find herself returning back to normal.
With an Upper Moon defeated, Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps are one step closer to taking down Muzan. Ubayashiki's resolve and Muzan's summoning of Akaza shows just how serious the Demon King's situation is. If this cliffhanger weren't enough to get fans amped for another season, Season 2's conclusion also came with a little treat. There's no official details on its arrival date yet, but Studio Ufotable has already confirmed Season 3 with an official teaser trailer for the next arc.
This upcoming season will be adapting the manga's "Swordsmith Village" arc, following Tanjiro as he is forced to seek out Haganezuka to fix his sword, after the swordsmith grows tired of the numerous repairs he's done. The teaser also shows the new Hashira of focus: the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, and the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito. Whether Demon Slayer fans have read the manga or not, Season 3 is sure to bring gut-wrenching emotion and battles that'll keep fans on the edge of their seats to the very end.
