Demon Slayer: Rengoku and Akaza Figures Recreate Mugen Train’s Final Battle

Preorders have opened for the Figma versions of Demon Slayer's Kyojuro Rengoku and Akaza.

Good Smile Company is now taking orders for the latest figures based on the Flame Hashira and his ultimate opponent, the Twelve Kizuki demon Akaza. Unlike another recent figure of Rengoku, these versions of the powerful Demon Slayer characters are fully posable with over a dozen joints each. Each figure also comes with a display stand and alternate heads and hands to recreate key moments from their explosive battle. Rengoku also includes additional effects parts that can be used to recreate the various forms of the Flame Breathing style. Akaza is available for $109.99, while Rengoku will be slightly more expensive at $119.99. Both figures are scheduled to be released in Japan in Sept. 2022 and in North America in November.

Rengoku and Akaza are the fifth and sixth characters from Demon Slayer to be featured in toy manufacturer Max Factory's Figma line. The company previously released figures based on the series' central protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, as well as his cursed little sister, Nezuko. The cowardly swordsman Zenitsu and the abrasive, boar-headed warrior Inosuke have also been made into Figma figures. The Figma line is known for its poseability and has featured characters from a wide variety of Japanese anime and video game franchises, including Dragon Ball, Jujutsu Kaisen, Persona, and multiple Nintendo series.

The fight between the Flame Hashira and Akaza served as the climax for Demon Slayer's Mugen Train arc, which was adapted into a 2020 movie of the same name, and the first 7 episodes of the TV anime's second season. The Mugen Train movie is the highest grossing anime movie of all time, pulling in $503 million dollars globally during its theatrical run. The TV version of the arc is mostly created from footage from the movie, but it features an all new opening episode that details how the Flame Hashira made his way to the arc's eponymous train, as well as 70 newly animated scenes from studio Ufotable.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba was created by Koyoharu Gotouge in 2016.  The manga is one of the best-selling series of all time, with over 150 million copies in circulation worldwide. Ufotable has produced an anime adaptation of the series, the second season of which is currently airing in Japan, with a simulcast being provided internationally by Crunchyroll and Funimation. The previous season of the series can also be streamed from those services, as well as Netflix. The Mugen Train movie is also available for streaming exclusively on Funimation.
