Crunchyroll has announced the slate of anime series it will stream for the upcoming winter season.
The dedicated anime streaming service will continue to offer the latest episodes of hit series such as the second season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba and Wit Studio's critically acclaimed Ranking of Kings. Some of the fall season's newest shows, including the latest series in the Digimon franchise, Ghost Game and Platinum End, the new series from the creators of Death Note, will also continue into the winter season, as will long running anime staples such as One Piece, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, and Case Closed. Of course, the most highly anticipated show of 2022 is Attack on Titan, which will begin airing the second half of its final season on Jan. 9. A new trailer for the series' return was also revealed today, which shows off some of the titan-on-titan battles that fans have to look forward to. A full line-up can be viewed on Crunchyroll's website.
Crunchyroll's winter line-up has a lot of overlap with Funimation's schedule for the season. Both streaming services will host the premiere of new series such as the cosplay rom-com Dress Up My Darling, the post-apocalyptic action series Sabikui Bisco, and Tokyo 24th Ward, the latest series from CloverWorks, the studio behind The Promised Neverland's controversial anime adaptation and the original series Wonder Egg Priority. The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc and the Fate spin-off Lord El-Melloi’s II Case Files {Rail Zeppelin} Grace note -Special Episode- will also be streamed on both Crunchyroll and Funimation at some point during the winter season, but the final premiere dates for those shows have yet to be announced. Media conglomerate Sony owns both Crunchyroll and Funimation; the tech giant purchased Crunchyroll earlier this year from its previous owner, Warner Media, for a whopping $1.1 billion USD.
Of course, Crunchyroll has a sizable line-up of shows that are still exclusive to its service as well, including FreakAngels, a new Crunchyroll original animated series based on the critically acclaimed webcomic of the same name. The streaming service will also be the home of the colorful new isekai series, In The Land of Leadale, as well as the risqué sci-fi thriller World's End Harem, which was originally scheduled to air last season but was unexpectedly delayed into 2022 after airing only one episode.
In addition to all of those shows, Crunchyroll is teasing even more announcements and additions to its lineup as the winter season approaches. The service already hosts over 1,000 series and 30,000 individual episodes in its streaming library.
