WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 3, Episode 6, "Knossos | Man-Made Labyrinth," now streaming on Crunchyroll.
The tensions between the Xenos and the Ikelos Familia continue to escalate in Is It Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, as in Episode 6 of Season 3, the two confront one another following the abduction of Wiene and the death of Ranye, as well as other Xenos. As Bell works to help the Xenos, he learns just what he’s up against after Dix reveals the truth behind his heritage and the Ikelos Familia’s motives.
Gros and the rest of the Xenos manage to corner some of the Ikelos Familia members involved in the slaughter on the 24th dungeon floor. In doing so, they learn of the secret entrance to the Ikelos Familia’s hideout. As the Ganesha Familia tries to subdue the rampaging Xenos, Bell runs into Lyd. The two have a heated exchange, and Bell learns that Wiene was captured by the Ikelos Familia.
Lyu approaches Bell during the confrontation, and after failing to persuade him to retreat, she gives him a pouch with items she says will be useful in his upcoming journey. After meeting up with Fels, the two discover the secret entrance to the Ikelos Familia’s lair and make their way through it to meet up with Lyd and the other Xenos.
As this is happening, the Hestia Familia lament over their inability to help Bell. Lili realizes that Zanis might know something about the Xenos based on prior conversations she’d had with him. They go to confront him as Hermes does the same to Ikelos. Both of them eventually learn that the Ikelos Familia is led by descendants of Daedalus, an architect who played a major role in the development and creation of Orario and its dungeons.
Bell and Fels eventually meet up with the Xenos as they attempt to free their captured comrades, but Dix and the rest of the Ikelos Familia quickly surround them. Dix reveals that he and the other Ikelos Familia members have been stealing and selling monsters in order to fund the construction of Knossos, a man-made labyrinth that was intended to be as large as Orario’s dungeon. Dix tells them that this task has been passed down from generation to generation, and that the massive scale of the project required them to continually come up with funds and resources to ensure its eventual completion.
Things take a turn for the worse when Dix unleashes a massive curse on Bell and the Xenos. While Fels is able to shield Bell and some of the wounded Xenos, Lyd, Gross and most of their comrades are caught in the blast. The curse causes them to attack one another in a blind rage, and Fels reveals that the only way to stop the onslaught is to strike down the one who cast it. Though he’s intimidated by Dix’s strength, Bell resolves to end things and attacks him head-on.
Bell and Dix finally cross blades, as the episode sets up what will likely be a memorable confrontation between the two. With Wiene’s abduction, the death of the Xenos on the 24th floor, and the curse cast on Lyd and the others, Dix has given Bell plenty of motivation. But the massive gap between the two will likely be Bell’s greatest challenge yet.
